Raleigh Steemfest 2018 - Update
Last week I posted about a potential meet up in Raleigh to gauge interest. I don't have a huge following, so word is not spreading to the NC community. I think the best approach, right now, is to post once a week about where we are in the process and hopefully pick up more interest as we get closer to June. I have also received some feedback suggesting we get a high-profile speaker in order to increase interest. This may happen. I am working on one, but if you know of someone or are someone who might draw a crowd, feel free to volunteer. I think any early adopter or whale at Steemit would draw some interest.
The Steemit Meetup will be at the Raleigh Convention Center on the evening of June 15. We have a room in conjunction with the Cryptolina 2018 crypto conference. There is no charge for the steemit meetup. The two-day conference, early bird price is $499. However, I am working on getting a Steemit discount added to the website for any Steemians interested in attending both. The slate of speakers for Cryptolina is growing. It is promising to be an excellent event.

One of the things I want to do is to track interest on this post. So this is where we are. We are currently trying to locate a speaker for the conference. Attendees are one confirmed. Me. @coldsteem will be speaking at Cryptolina, so I will be there anyhow.

This is better than the zero responses we had a week ago. And if only a handful of people make it, we will still hang out and talk about Steemit, Crypto or whatever we decided to talk about. If we have a scheduled speaker, even better. I will keep you posted on that.

I will take care of the venue and have some drinks and snacks available. I just need people to show up to make the effort worthwhile. It is worthwhile for me even if we only have a handful. But it will be more worthwhile for everyone if we have a good turnout.
