Experiment on Steemit

in #steemit8 years ago

I am conducting an experiment to see how many upvotes will it take to bring this post revenue up. The reason for this experiment is to use this as a proof to other new members who do not believe in Steem model of payout.  If you look at all my post, the highest payout has only been $2.02. So this little experiment will show and proof if Steemit is indeed bias with its payout or is this a fair system of providing value contents in return for fair rewards. After 12 hours, we shall know how much this post would be making and I would then update with another post on the result of this experiment.

This is a fair experiment and I am not in connection with any 'whales' to help boost the earning of this post to create the illusion of fair play.

This is the best way to ruin your reputation. You will end up flagged and go from 5 to -5 real quick.

Agreed. I won't flag this one, but this sort of "my whinge post isn't making money this proves Steemit sucks" doesn't contribute anything. If the OP doesn't care about his reputation then I hope he/she at least doesn't complain when it gets damaged.

At the moment, I am seeing rubbish post trending and making bucks. There are some good post but most are simply junks making thousands of dollars. And I keep seeing this buy steem power box beside trying to convince me to change cash into steem power. So what is there to lose? In the worse case scenario, if flag happens, I can just create new account since there is not much earning on this account either. But it does not really matter to be honest. As I am more concern in showing that even if 80% of the members here upvote you, you won't get decent earnings unless you get people with steem power (excessively) to upvote you.

Steemit is unfair, I give you that. But your asking proof for something that is already proved. Ive seen posts with over 100 upvotes and ended up with only a few bucks. This experiment is not an experiment if your trying to prove something that is already proved. The system is rigged this way for now. All you can do is build now and see how the platform grow bigger hoping maybe your steempower might be worth something in the future.

See the problem with this experiment is that it is not using proper means of blinding the sample. You are in a direct conflict of interest, since you will reap some profit in the process.

The problem with your test is that how do we know a whale will even see this. Regardless, I don't think whales want to participate in this sort of "experiment" as you say. There have been many of these types of experiments, which are getting sort of old. Those of you that don't believe in Steem (besides just the payout)...that's too bad. Whales and the like (steemians) need not show any proof of anything. You are here and those who see this or any other post and see the real potential will stay.

These types of experiments are just bad. My two cents or should I say my 2/100 of a cent. :D

I agree with @daf, you're basically saying "prove it Steemit" and throwing a gif up, as though Steemit's reputation is on the line from your post. There's no "Steemit," just a community of individuals who make up the community that we identify as "Steemit". I'm really curious what you think new Steemians could learn from this, because I didn't leave here with a very fuzzy feeling.
@daf your 1.002 of a cent, because I'm with you.

I am not asking steemit to prove it. I am trying to demonstrate that even with masses upvoting you, the earnings will still be pathetic and time wasting if you are after earnings. Which means the current system is totally flawed and overly focus upon steem power.

@daf I see your point from your perspective. However from my perspective, I think this is open and transparent as my earnings can be viewed direct from my wallet. And secondly I am in no connection with any whales. All my post gathered less than $0.50 except for one. If a commoner like myself cannot see any earnings through the upvote then the same could be applied to 80% of the members. Which simply means that the voting system is flawed and overly geared towards steem power. This is the current scenario that we are seeing currently as common members.

I upvoted because I believe every one deserves a fair shot, but throughout my stay I've observed that it's indeed fair based on the preference of the readers. Even though posts have a high quality, it doesn't really equate to a huge number of upvotes. It takes a bit of luck, a bit of skill, and a huge amount of influence.

Admittedly, all of my posts so far is part of a larger experiment to see which type of content would trend. I've tried posting long posts, short posts, photos, artwork, etc. I'm still collating my findings, and I do share the sentiment of the users who are discouraged by the reception of their posts.

I feel that if you want to have a more effective experiment, you should post a content that you feel deserve upvotes instead of just pointing out that it's a test post to see how much upvotes it draws.

Every experiment deserves attention and support

I am just curious to be honest. With upvotes but users without steem power, how far can the post make in terms of earnings. I am not interested in the payout of this post which I can give it back to all who commented and votes on this post. I did not put this down as I do not want to use this a publicity to get upvotes.

or is this a fair system of providing value contents in return for fair rewards

is this post quality content ?
does it deserve a reward ?

Can you look at trending section and tell me how many 'quality' post are there making thousands of dollars? Some of this are just introducing themselves (wow, their introduction are so full of quality). So what is wrong here? The problem lies with focusing on steem power. Even if you have quality post, you need to have a way to mingle with users with high steem power to upvote your contents. Else you would be earning close to zero with your post and wasting your life away making others rich. This is typical of a MLM marketing Company setup. Look at Herbal life who is currently being sued in USA. And study their model. If Steemit is not careful, it can easily falls into this trap. Not saying that Steemit is a scam but going in the wrong direction can creates greed that causes people to do wrong things. Especially when there is no authorities governing steemit.

Well if you gave me some value to upvote i would upvote your posts, mate.
I follow your blog, as you follow mine.
And I read your posts.

What would this place be worth if this post made it to trending ? seriously
