I agree 100%. I believe that some of the behaviours and values some community's empower and promote have lasting and detrimental effects on the platform.

I've heard a lot about SteemSTEM from @alexdory and @svemirac and it's very promising to here what they are all about.

We have been creating a community called BuddyUP which is centered around encouragement and engagement. We've built a platform that rewards these two traits and hopefully over time we will see a ripple effect within our community.

Too many people who aren't willing to express thoughtfully and continue to fall into the trap of unproductive and detrimental social patterns.
