ABOUT ISDEV

(Innovative software developers) is a tech meet-up program, created to support and train individuals on how to use innovative software for their enterprises. It was also created to provide education on how to develop smart software and applications, that are supported on all platforms.

Currently based in Nigeria, we sought to expand our horizon, especially in terms of reach and Steem technology is making that possible by providing a new field of study as well as www.steemit.com as vehicle to reaching other parts of the world.

ISDEV is still pretty much in its infancy and we are open to developments, hence, with our recent interest in the steem blockchain and blockchain in general, talks are currently in place to add steem and blockchain education into our curriculum.

THE EVENT

ISDEV Hackathon is a weekend dedicated to you and too many hackers, developers and programmers to collaborate and build creative solutions to problems, while pushing the limits of your mind and body into creating mind-blowing innovations. 

Our core aim is to bring tech-startups in Nigeria especially, before potential sponsors in a Hackathon event that allows them to showcase their innovations before a panel of IT-inclined judges and venture capitalists. 

There is huge market for this in Nigeria because there are many hidden talents versed in world of IT, who stay hidden either because they can't raise necessary funding or lack direction. 

A case scenario is Bitcoin, which has been popular in Nigeria since its inception but was hardly known by many to be a technology. We all mostly knew of it as another digital currency, something similar to the now obsolete 'liberty reserve currency'. 

There have always been stores in Nigeria, trading in Bitcoin but it as always been seen as simply another medium of exchange. 

The whole steem blockchain endeavor as introduced to us by @surpassinggoogle makes this all much clearer now and as we try to learn about the steem blockchain, we will be able to introduce participating tech startups in the upcoming HACKATHON, into a much newer world of technology.

By means of steem, we will find more expansive ways for these Nigerian tech-startups to find funding and publicity. 

We are a young and upcoming group made up of determined and innovative individuals and steem is something we can start to integrate into our second ISDEV HACKATHON 2017 starting August 24 through 26.

HACKATHON aims to kickstart more startups. The first ISDEV HACKATHON 2016 was a success, it was held for 2 days straight and that gave participating tech-startups enough time to develop ideas and accomplish quick implementation as they compete for prizes before a panel of judges and possible investments from venture capitalists.

A proud product of ISDEV HACKATHON is 'Goslowyarn' which is now a running company, helping Nigerians to get traffic updates with an Android app. You can find this app on the Google Playstore!

Brindocorp's ISDEV aims at improving the number of tech startups hailing from Nigeria!

ISDEV HACKATHON 2016 hosted close to a hundred candidates from major places in Nigeria like Lagos, Abeokuta, Akure, etc. This number consisted of several teams!

ISDEV HACKATHON 2017

Aims to improve on what 2016 has started by including the ability to showcase hardware inventions and also for the first time, it will be having an online Hackathon for candidates not having the opportunity to come physically to the event. 

The target is to have more than 500 attendees! Enrollment is free and is currently hosted on:

We hope to seamlessly integrate steem into the agenda for HACKATHON 2017, either by giving attribution to Steemit as a sponsor or adding a steemit-related prize into the contests itself. 

For the most part, we are thinking of just the perfect steem-gift to give all in attendance. @surpassinggoogle and @brindocorp are still in discussion regarding this. He is suggesting something like a Steemit USB Drive containing a "Welcome to Steemit" attachment, containing all FAQs. 

We will also brainstorm the perfect prizes for the judges and Venture Capitalists, who will join the events. 

Primarily, we will create a space in the event to discuss steemit and gather enough data to sign up several participating tech-startups on steemit. @surpassinggoogle will take care of quick sign-ups!

Conclusion

Joining steemit is something we are glad about as it gives us fresh avenues to learn. It is a new experience and one that will benefit us, especially because the steem blockchain is open source and gives us room to build and hone our coding skills. Also, it is the perfect vehicle for moving our core vision of empowering Nigerian youths with a career in Information Technology, into full implementation as steemit.com will be our new place to document progress e.g press releases. 

We can also bring in our entire team along with other Nigerian tech startups for collaboration on the steem blockchain. We will also be able to learn from more veteran coders on steemit and be among visionaries, all within a community. 

If we are able to accomplish a successful ISDEV HACKATHON 2017 with full steemit integration as directed by @surpassinggoogle, we are hopefully of seeing more tech startups on steemit in the next couple of weeks. 

This will be an exciting journey!
