Steem Closes In On $2 Per - What Fuels It
Steem has already come a very long way in just the few short months I have been here (now coming up on 4 months) Over the course of this time I have seen thousands of new users and people buying steem power to boost up their accounts and voting power.
Here are the top 3 reasons why Steem is powering to new highs and why we might start seeing a slump again.

https://Dtube.video came out just in time as youtube started to ban and remove people from its service as it pushes towards what they say more kid friendly ratings. Users of youtube started seeing massive amounts of income fall and then being banned. This is when they started to turn to Dtube. Pretty much youtube but run on steem and allows you to upvote videos for payout as well!
More Users On Steemit
Over the last few months with crypto currency hitting all new highs and Steem pretty much always staying above $1 per it has really opened peoples eyes to really start digging into steemit. Of course what this means is you have more competition and more steem buying this will greatly help fuel the price up steem upwards as more quality users come on board. Not only that but with high quality articles and those who know SEO steemit is getting very popular with the general public as they run into the site searching for various topics.
Reduced Power Downs
When Steem started to track back to $1 each we saw many users stop their power downs. Since Steem power powers down over a time frame of 13 weeks or just over 3 months. When I jumped on steem is when the price exploded to over $2 per steem and we saw many power downs taking place. Now that we are at the end of that steem prices are climbing again as less steem is being dumped into the market from power downs.

Clearly stated. Steemit is such an amazing platform. Steem closing at $2 is just a tip of an iceberg. I made a prediction that it will reach 10$ before the middle of 2018. As more people will come on board. I just love the whole idea of steemit.

I think all your reasons are valid.
We are over the 300K mark with users and it is only growing each day. I see a lot on here from third world countries since it is a way for them to earn income in amounts that can make a difference in their lives.
Steemit could well be on its way to being the most popular social media site in the future. I wrote in another post that companies affected by disruptive technology do not realize it is disruptive until things are too late. If this does happen, I foresee Steem being a very valuable coin. When you look at the market cap of Facebook, if Steemit even attains 10% of that value, the coins will be worth a lot more.
