Effect of Celebrities on Steemit?
What Will Happen When Celebrities Come to Steemit?
A few major questions come to mind when celebrities inevitably make the jump to steemit.
Will people have a mad dash trying to upvote a celebrity story because of the potential money it could make them? This would potentially hurt people who spend their time creating unique content when a celebrity could post anything and have thousands of fans vote for it. (Not that celebrities don't provide innovative content, but it would make other people less likely to spend their valuable time creating content).
In what ways will celebrities use this platform to interact with fans? Advertising products, giving insight about their life , just posting selfies etc.
If a celebrity says they dislike a product or person will they get a group of their followers to downvote content even though it may be valuable to others?
It will be interesting to see what we as a steemit community will find valuable when it comes to steemit celebrity content.
Also it would probably be a thrill for many to have one of their posts upvoted by their favorite celebrity in the same way people enjoy getting retweeted, except this time a celebrity would actually be giving financial value to that as well.
A very interesting time for steemit is ahead!!
This could be a very good way to monetize for artists. Imagine a musician coming to share a new album and people can thank him/her by upvoting.
I agree 100%. I know it has been mentioned before, but another blockchain technology called lbry has been made (in beta) that has been described as a youtube without the ads. So I believe that people can give microtransactions in a similar but slightly different way than steemit. It does offer a great venue for up and coming artists to potentially make a living off people paying them with votes for content they like.

Haha nor am I! To be honest I'm just a deep thinker who loves to ponder what might happen in the future :) I love steemit too though. It's addicting!
To me celebrities are just people. I care far more about content and what it says than WHO said it. That said I will likely remain far more excited about what a good steemit content generating person says than a celebrity. The benefit of celebrities is that they will attract more people.
I agree with you completely. Great interesting content is just that regardless of who comes up with it. I feel if a majority of adults continue to stay on steemit content will be valued over celebrity, but if children flock to it, some content will be sacrificed. I could very well be wrong and obviously there are many thoughtful kids and thoughtless adults as well, but I thought it was at least worth bringing up for discussion

An army of trolls upvoting each other would be a mess. Yes you can downvote content, but trolls tend to be relentless and a user experience that requires too much downvoting would probably cripple the userbase.

Exactly! I think this is an intellectual community right now and I hope it stays that way, but it will be quite interesting to see if solely being a celebrity will make users want to give them their steem power
