I have been wondering similar too, I am a numbers/stats/charts guy.
Clearly you are too so I will share this with you too, I have observed during my time here.
It depends on the person/content/other factors too but I found after I reached 500 followers, on Feb. 20th (so literally 90 days ago and I joined in August and took a full month off, then another week when I went on #SteemitStrike to stand against some of the issues here, 1% wise, flag wise etc)
- I found critical mass seemed to happen after 500 followers. I struggled for months as many do with things, gaining followers, learning to blog daily, setting up series and templates on here, etc...
but after 500th follower, things seemed to move quicker.

As any other job, еntry into a new community and building a reputation must be a hard process at the beginning. It is normally, no one borns big. I'm glad that this process will be much easier after the first 500, you cheered me:-)
