2,300 years old sword

A steel sword that was forged over 2,300 years ago has been found in Henan Province, China. The sword was discovered during the excavation of a tomb in the town of Xinyang.

According to the TASS news agency, despite being thousands of years old, the sword and sheath are still in perfect shape. In fact, one side of the sword still looks sharp.

Liu Yong, the Chengyang District supervisor who witnessed the excavations admitted to being very impressed with the ancient sword. The sword was previously covered in mud when it was removed from one of the coffins.

The results of laboratory tests show that the ancient sword was forged in 475 BC-221 AD However, experts have not been able to confirm the identity of the ancient sword owner.

According to experts, this discovery is a remnant of the ancient city of Chengyang. From historical records, the ancient city of Chengyang is the largest and best-preserved city by land.

Meanwhile, in April 2016, archaeologists unearthed a number of 3,000-year-old coffins after finding 22 mausoleums from the Shang Dynasty (1600 BC-1046 BC). Historians believe, the site is a burial of a wealthy family.
