Code Syntax Highlighting in SteemIt? When will it be available? Any ongoing efforts?steemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone. This is more of a question post.

The platform is really nice for writing regular articles, but as far as I know there is currently still no proper syntax highlighting support on the SteemIt platform.

Note. This is a picture. I don't want a picture. I want code.

Perhaps some of the more knowledgeable of you can share some information about the latest status on syntax highlighting on this platform? Are there any current efforts for doing this (i.e: perhaps some open source library one can contribute to)?

I apologize in advance if there is something out there, but haven't seen it yet.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nobody has any suggestions? :|

not on the roadmap at all

condenser (the steemit frontend) uses a fork of the github markdown

but unfortunately the syntax specific notation isn't available and it's buggy all over the place :P

if (isAwesome){
  return true
}

false

Thanks for your input! I see that there is already an open issue for adding syntax highlighting on condenser's github page: https://github.com/steemit/condenser/issues/2095

keep it up...

Yes! Syntax Highlighting would make technical writing so much more readable and enjoyable.
While waiting for Syntax Highlighting to be supported on Steemit, I added it on my Steemit using TamperMonkey.

Yup! Also a nice to have would've been draft post management. So I referenced your post here: https://steemit.com/steemit-ideas/@bacchist/save-draft-posts#@tudo.george/qr4ri0
