RE: IMPORTANT NOTICE - Hardfork Effects Rewards

in #steemit8 years ago

According to @abit, most of it is gone. We'll get a fraction in about a week. Then we have to wait a month while the reward pool builds up. Oh, and payouts will be much lower, but steady. Woo.hoo.

Tough luck on the lost Steem. He doesn't care about fundraisers getting clobbered, so sad to say, you're not going to have much luck recovering the loss.

If I sound frustrated and angry.... good guess.

Relax and just keep swimming, just keep swimming lol!! :)

I'm guessing they won't like what I tell them. And, I know your trying to be lighthearted... I appreciate that.

I just have a hard time smiling when donations disappear out of a fundraiser post and those that did it, don't care.

Truth @aunt-deb, I like you. Good thing with a blockchain is every one can see it, if they want to that is.. and the community can be held accountable especially once we learn to speak whaaaale together, or once we power up.

Anyway it's all a big balancing act imho. Sometimes tips for the better, sometimes for the worse. I hope my lightheartedness brought even a tiny smile to you, just gotta remember we're either in this all together or not at all right?

To me the concept of steemit is the real value at play, whichever way this unfolds and forks the results will reflect our actions now. If creators are treated unfairly and taxed then we will respawn on the next platform. If we can grow together we will be the greatest social media revolution and mass proponents of the power of blockchain and fintech that the world has been waiting for.

Like I said, we just gotta learn to speeeak whaaaale!! :)

Thanks. I like you, too. Agreed, somewhat, on the 'everyone can see it'. Not yet, though I think they're trying.

Steemit has the potential for going big. No one is contesting that, I don't think. I'm not. I hope it does. That's why I'm here.

The thing is, not everyone is out to be a whale. Shocking, I know. I came here for some good articles, interesting people, and maybe make a friend or two. The payout aspect was new to me, so I learned from my new friends and since they help me, I try to return the favor when I can. My mistake in thinking, though, that everybody here views community the way I do. Rude awakening, to say the least.

So, my goals are scaled back now. No more fundraisers. That way I can't break promises and deflate hopes. Keep things on the surface. Focus on extracting worth. Don't over-deliver.

This should avoid any future misunderstanding on my part and minimize my disruptions.

Good luck with your goals and aspirations. I truly hope they work out for you!

@aunt-deb You have a cool "aunt vibe". It's nice talking to you and learning your whys. Wanting to help that guy and give freely unto others certainly helps us all achieve what I'd consider community goals. Who we be is our best example isn't it?

However I get it, we're all in uncharted territory. Steemit's a wonderful mix of personalities, intentions and world views. Internet anonymity does allow for a full spectrum of interesting behavior right? The socio-economic experiment as I see it, has complete freedom to evolve organically or so I believe?

Respects for Dan, Ned and the team for creating this opportunity. If it turns out any way other than a success then we've still moved closer to realizing a dream. A publishing platform that serves we the people and empowers everyone to make money online equally(?). To be part of what I see as ground breaking innovation for cryptocurrency and blockchain applications is an honor. Not overlooking this rewards pool "glitch" :/

I still believe in what steemit represents, freedom and liberty of expression and chance to be rewarded for doing so. That's why I love observing the process. Obviously whales are struggling to communicate their intentions with the whole and devs only saving grace is that the project is clearly still in beta.

My goal here is to keep sharing our life blog and introduce more people to steemit. While building a brand that will help support my family in the future. That to me is a wonderful thing, I was blogging before steemit and would still be if it didn't exist.

So keep doing you it's GREAT and certainly don't turn down your shine for anyone! Do whatever you love and if that's over delivering so be it, follow your joy! If making promises feels good then do that, if not then don't. What matters is sharing and being creative, accomplished and happy right?

Wholeness.

I'm glad you've found a passion that makes you happy and I hope Steemit lives up to it's potential in your gameplan.

Recent events here have shaken my trust in that and it's going to take a major effort for them to restore it. I'm giving them that opportunity. They'll get my best when they prove worthy of it. Sadly, they've shown they have a long way to go. Fingers crossed they'll buy a clue and catch up to the rest of us.

@aunt-deb As I mention, do what makes you happy and follow your joy. I'd keep an eye on @dantheman for his open source projects in the future and watch where he goes too. While I agree there is a long way to go here, we are still in beta and the major effort you're looking for? Well let's hope that happens as there are other crypto-based platforms emerging hot on steemit heels.

Personally I focus on creating content to the best of my ability at all times and that's my passion. I want to learn and grow as a creator, that way I can take my skills and audience with me. I know lots of people say the rewards aren't their motive, well it is one of mine. Although I don't pin my hopes here to it, wherever I post I aim to provide value and entertainment first. Secondly gain some following and engagement. I be-life in building our brands and we are all free to perform on any one platform or play them all right?

You're giving steemit an opportunity just as steemit is giving all of us one as well right? I never paid to be here so my ROI is looking pretty sweet already. Steemit has already proven it's worth to me and in my humble opinion, it's the best publishing option available (at the moment).

Sure we still have so much untapped potential, though it inspires and motivates me to keep working on my blog and sharing it as we grow and evolve. I also kinda dig the free and open minded people here!

So I wish you all the best and hope to see you around on here for a while longer. At least until we see the result and re-balancing of the pool and this new 7 day cycle. If any of the lost/taxed/glitched/invested steem comes back to us bonus.

It's been nice getting to know you.

Wholeness.

Hi there @aunt-deb, I am fully aware of what your post was for and about. I just wish I was in a position to do something. I am so sorry. Thank you, though, for taking the time and trouble to do something big for our friend! Namaste.

Thanks for that. I feel responsible for getting his hopes up, only to have it fall flat. The uncaring attitude of the ones that did it is salt in the wound - hence my howling.

The only remedy is to get as many new folks to upvote the initial post as I can. That may squeeze a few more cents out of the pool. Plus the proceeds from the post directing people there will go to Barry, too.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I wish that I could do something to help ... but I cannot right now. Thank you, you are such a kind person to do what you do. Our problem right now is that with votes and posts worth so little ... there is so little to be gained. Maybe a straight up USD collection. I am in Ecuador! So am a fat lot of good. I just hope he has an early spring up there!! Take care.

No problem and I know you would. The kind words of support ARE a help! Hopefully in the next week we'll have some new upvotes and it'll improve. You take care, too!

I am sorry to have to inform you that I think you missed the point. The post was a fund-raiser for a very good friend in need. It was smashed. When i say "in need" - like now needy.
Losing that "now" money hurt in more ways than its value. Like treading on butterflies.
I understand your point of view, you possibly did not know the context.
Namaste.

Gotcha. I'm sorry @aunt-deb , for the loss of the fundraiser. and I do apologize for my comment. I didn't know the full context. Thanks @ebyans for the clarification

Closed my account with them years ago. My info isn't theirs to sell.
