RE: 💬 Why I'm on Steemit

in #steemit6 years ago

How profound and succinct!

I was one of the first on the internet (via Compuserve) and also became a full time affiliate marketer so I totally relate to your observations.

I am also enjoying the "wild west" feeling that Steemit has at the moment and agree that it is only a matter of time before big money comes rolling in. You only have to look at the latest Alexa ranking to see that Steemit is no longer under the radar:

It is an exciting time to be involved and I just hope things don't get overly commercial too soon.

It's a small world after all @atomcollector!

  • I was first CompuServe, then for awhile I thought AOL was the Internet, then I discovered AOL was just a box surrounding a very small part of the real Internet. Will never forget that sound the modem made when I dialed up! haha
    • yes, get ready to ridemcowboy!

That noise haunts me! I also had a ZX81 and used to record programmes from Tomorrow's World with a cassette deck so I have binary overload!

My first computer was a Timex Sinclair with

  • 2k of memory
  • cassette tape "hard drive"
  • TV for the monitor
    • Raced home from the Navy commissary and hooked it up.
    • Broke out the manual.

Print "Dave" and it did!!!
For x = 1 to 10

Next x and it did!!!
Then I made it scroll continuously moving right and left

  • and I've been hooked ever since! haha

I still love Basic programming. Wish it was still available!

Later I got my first "laptop"...
