The revolutionary idea that slips between the fingers of Sony and Micrsoft.

When Nintendo released The Wii on November 19, 2006 as a seventh-generation home video game console, presented what marked a before and after in the industry, so, when in the middle of a conference, Satoru Iwata appeared with the device in his hands, more than one doubted its functionality. But what made this console so revolutionary was not it specifications, which were inferior to it competitors, it was the controls.

in 2001 Tom Quinn appeared before Microsoft shortly before the original XBOX came to light. Steve Balmer supported the idea presented by Quinn but the Xbox team did not see the project with the same eyes and finally rejected the concept, laughing at him and mentioning that they would make a much better motion sensor in fact, the meeting was so terrible that one of the executives approached him after apologize on behalf of the others. Really uncool Microsoft, Strike One!

His second attempt was directed towards the Japanese market specifically to the Sony, the meeting took place in a small room with a large projector and a PC, Sony was more interested, but only if the technology could be manufactured at a cost of around 50 cents or less, which was impossible, so they discarded it. The point is that you can't be too greedy, Strike Two!

Surprisingly, despite all these hard blows Quinn didn't give up, and as a last resort decided to appear before Nintendo. After his presentation, the vast majority of managers began to reflect on the issue until finally Atsushi Asada, honorary member of the company, decided to take a step forward and requested a prototype of the project, in the end Nintendo license the patent for motion control, as well as buy part of Tom's company.

That's why The Wii Remote is the primary controller for the console. It uses a combination of built-in accelerometers and infrared detection to sense its position in 3D space when pointed at the LEDs in the Sensor Bar. This design allows users to control the game with physical gestures as well as button-presses. The controller connects to the console using Bluetooth with an approximate 30 ft (9.1 m) range.

In the end the data speaks for itself Nintendo wins the war of seventh-generation consoles. I really liked that Tom Quinn believed in his company and his technology, I don't feel anything other than full admiration for those people who don't give up until they reach their goals no matter how many obstacles they get in the way.
