Expanding the reach of Steemit by decentralizing the curation efforts.

We all like The Blockchain. It will be the next big thing. The software and technology involved is still in its infancy but it will take off in the future and along with it the price of the successful tokens. This, along with the fact that Steemit can be a source of information with a broad reach and without the need to target products to the masses, will most probably make it a good platform for the world.
But what if we could use the power of Steemit and its reward funds to help bring people out of their bubble?

I am going to base my arguments on my own country. Romania is just an usual country in Europe. Close to its situation are many others, if not most of the world. But if you come from Sweeden or Switzerland, try to keep an open mind to what I am saying.

Things to consider:

• Steemit has the power to reach the poor communities. These communities should be the focus of our attention and support. These communities were neglected by the authorities, lost in time, forgotten by the grandchildren or the ones that left in search for a better life.
• We will never have time or the resources necessary to spread and help all of these communities in our lifetimes. Without support and attention the divide between rural communities and the educated and successful will only get deeper. Our worlds will collide, in elections, in funding, and in support of each other.
• The poor and rural community is the target of all of the fake news, disinformation, manipulation and political lobby. This is also corroborated with the fact that education and participation in more than any basic education is existent and out of the political spectrum at this point.
• The poor are in so desperate need of money that they would jump at the opportunity to contribute for money and maybe say their thoughts in the process. Teach us of traditions, show us the life they have, maybe even help us raise awareness about some extreme situations. I am following a lot of people who have a voice on Facebook and despite their hardships, they still help their communities.
• Even in cities, retired old people with the gift of writing are living in extreme poverty. Former teachers, former doctors and former engineers would be waiting to write, read and curate. Steemit gives them more power to do something, a voice they didn't have.
• In rural or poor communities a per post reward of 5$ would be enough for a normal family to improve their life. From buying medical supplies to clothes or anything. It will not be a life changer but it would be a breath of air to them. Most of them have absolutely no income, since no industry is working at full capacity here or trying to employ them.
• And then there are people like us. We are here because we are tech able, because we invested in cryptocurrency, because we are curious and we are explorers. There are more like us, which will contribute just to help others. They are from within our borders or outside our borders. They have the same passions as us and would enjoy having a voice, while still enjoying the benefits of writing for a reward.

So how can we help everyone? Surely a handful of people can't do this alone!

So.. WHY do this?

• It is hard for us to have a reach in every town and village. We are a core team of people but we have connections. Connections that have connections. So it is easy to get the word spread out in the rural and poor communities.
  What I am proposing is using the successful profile of the blockchain - it's decentralization and employ it in this case.

• It is also hard to impossible to hope to curate everything in the future from a central hub and dedicated curators could not read all the content anyway. And they couldn't help individual authors in improving their skills, just promoting the good practices and the best of the best articles. Some of the best might be translated in English and promoted outside the borders towards an international community.

The proposed structure:

This will have multiple benefits:

• It would allow the use of any tags to curate within the communities. Even with the names of the towns, villages.
• It would allow work at different levels of education and article quality.
• It would allow tutoring as well as curation not just flagging or voting.
• Each curator will create a weekly article about his own curation trail.
• Some of the best articles can make it to the top and be promoted harder by the community.
• It is scalable and future-proof.
• Each curator will be interested in bringing new prepared people to the platform and promote education.
• This structure would pave the way for promoting Steemit or any other idea by having trusted curators everywhere.
• Time spent curating could be repaid by the results of the ones being curated.
• For a new steemit member in the rural area, having a proven known/close person that is being paid by steemit might increase his/her own confidence in the project.
• Reduces cost of mentoring. I don't know many others who will spend a few hours per day trying to teach others how to write or about what to write or about formatting or about good practices for 20$ per month. There will be volunteers, but not enough. But having a curator also from the rural areas might balance this load. A retired teacher in the rural area gets a little over 100$ and I think this is optimistic.

Maybe this will prove to be a good idea to change something in our mentalities and gradually it might have the power needed to boost the education levels in those areas. Prepare the new generation for the world. Get them to know what practical things they need to work in any field they wish. Promote smarter children and gain exposure from a world they would not get to otherwise meet. Stop families from relocating outside the reach of their children, abandoning them for years and not caring about their education.

Maybe part of this could be implemented, maybe it's not a good idea or maybe it needs work before it can be viable.
But I have a dream and this dream could be now!
