The perversion of improvisation. (illustrated)

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

In recent years we have seen how anonymous people has achieved fame through the network. Meanwhile, millions of people watched and imagined themselves having the same fate: the American Dream 2.0. Internet became the land of opportunities and where everyone, from home, had access to worldwide fame. However, fame wasn't the point. It was money.

YOUTUBERS

Of course, not only common surfers realized it, also did the companies. Therefore, sharks (not to be confused with the whales) have launched the conquest of the network, capturing youtubers or bloggers with potential and giving them support or even creating a product from the beginning and then import them to their own industries.

However, the most difficult point for them is to keep the spontaneity, the mother of dragons of success in network. Money is always revealing and people are not stupid. But maybe, the are still tricking us.

One example. The girl next video: Real or fake?

... Ok, you can dry your tears now.

Don't you think that girl could has already signed up with some label, that it's using this talent show as a way to launch this product to the market via Internet?

In short, the Network is already perverted and we are starting to become aware of it.

So if money perverts all, why don't we go straight to the point? Why pretending that only sharing our “art” selflessly matters? Why not we make it clear that what everyone is looking for is money? Would not it be more honest?

oh .. wait. Of course, this idea is already invented.

The question now is: ¿Will Steemit help democracy return to the Network or will it end back to the same hands?

Who wins?

TIBURON VS BALLENA

The sharks are savvy, but the whales have the money. On this system (like the business first economy most of us are used to,) as I understand it, money == power. The sharks, being savvy, will eventually become whales and their interest will shift to consuming more and protecting their assets.

so... there's no hope?

I'd really hate to think that. In fact, I can't. While I can't imagine a positive change in my lifetime, all of the hope I have left is for my kids. What I would like to see is a non-governed, for the people system of content critiquing - like a rating system that filters all the waste and clickbate garbage to the bottom. So if a story pops up that interests me, I can see a rating that tells me this provider is unbiased and doesn't use dubious click-throughs or over-abundant advertising. It's really a matter of how bad the people want it.
