Diving Deeper Into Steem Auto Voter

in #steemit6 years ago

Yesterday I shared in a post some of my opinions regarding the way I see Steemit now, as a community, and how sometimes it seems like working on auto-pilot. Surprisingly, I did get some feedback on the topic and the most "talked" subject from the bigger picture of it was regarding Steem auto voter and why and how some of you use it or benefit from it.

Today, after eating some Sunday pasta, I thought I should dive into the subject more and give a more detailed vision of mine about such "burden" and what would imply, in my opinion, for a steemian that is getting some pretty nice auto votes from some of his/hers followers.

How you get yourself into someones auto voter?

Getting into someones auto voter means that you proved that person, through your posts, that your "work" around here is of pretty good quality and consistency and you are worthy of upvoting without that person even reading one sentence of your articles. Somehow you gained his/hers trust and from now on you benefit from these auto uvotes while the one offering them can sleep "good" at night knowing that is curating a "good guy" and that his/hers voting power doesn't get dusty or wasted.

You defined your standards and now you have to keep them high

Once settled that quality and quantity was the thing to make you a worthy one for someones auto vote you will have to keep the standards high, as it is possible for your curator to check from time to time your "work" and make up his mind if he sees that you are starting to post shit knowing that you have your guaranteed votes every day. And that wouldn't be an easy task, but a must if you wanna stick around here having theses nice auto votes. Thus it doesn't make sense at all to set the bar lower and make just a routine out of your postings and transform your posts in something to fill others feed...

It's about quantity and quality

It may have been that you got the auto votes for some good quality posts, but that couldn't be the only reason. It might be the fact that you are consistent also, having a routine and a pretty nailed number of posts daily. I suppose not everyone counts on this consistency thing, but if I would be "powerful" enough to put someone on auto voter it would matter for me how many posts that guy has on a week or on a day so I can mange my voting power and decide how much is enough for both of us. It's probably that you're not the only lucky one tasting these auto votes and some adding and subtraction must be done.

There's always room for improvement and diversification

If you keep on kicking the same drum every day you might get boring and boredom will never be a thing to have on auto-voter, in my opinion. Thus, reinventing yourself from time to time will only be in your advantage as you not only will make your auto voter have confidence that he votes the "right guy" who nails in everything, but you'll probably "attract" others too on the road. If you do coins predictions and analyzes everyday, for example, you might end up with just a few keeping you on auto vote or even these might "loose" you in time, but when you diversify you get into a wider range of possibilities.

Sharing and carrying and some advertising to the package

Considering that these auto votes work fine and you're happy with your payouts you might use your voting power from now on as an advertising tool. And you can do that by upvoting other peoples posts instead of yours. It's not only a sign that you care about the community, if you believe that Steemit is a community, but you will let people know that you exist also and that's advertising in my opinion. I had also some good upvotes from people that I didn't followed or have never interacted with them, but after these one I checked them liked their blog and now follow. So, in my opinion, voting others is a simple way of making people know you, follow you and interact with you. Hence I consider spreading upvotes on things that matter and you like are some good advertising that you can get around here.

Bottom line

Considering that I kind of emptied my bag of creative writing about the auto vote topic and that I don't like long posts I will say that this is my ending paragraph and my overall vision regarding the situation of being a lucky "auto voted" and how I would maintain it. If you have opinions, of any kind, feel free to express them. In here almost anything is allowed and encouraged. We're on the blockchain and freedom of speech and transparency are highly advocated and free of charge and a healthy way of keeping this "thing" a community.

Thanks for your attention,
Ace

Great write-up. Curation trails might be the way to go if you want your "auto votes" going into certified great content. You can read a curation trails goals and past upvotes and give your support to them.
It might be more comforting if you see the votes going in a niche you like: sports, photography, etc. Hell, even DPorn has a curation trail lol.

If I would auto vote someone I would somehow make sure that he's not shitting on my feed once he saw himself on some guaranteed upvotes.

I wish i could get on somebodys autovote. Ive never even heard of auch a thing 😔

I don't know either everything about Steemit.
