Steemit Iron Chef 2018 Act 02 #08 : Mini burger sandwiches

in #steemit-ironchef6 years ago

The immediate thing I thought about when reading about this weeks theme was the Canarian breakfast sandwiches that have everything and anything in them. They are usually made with a pan (bread), egg, chicken, vegetables, and everything nice. They also have a name that I do not recall at the moment. These delicious breakfast sandwiches are something to look up to.

Also, what is the real difference between burgers and sandwiches? I know, I know, the bread must be flat. But mine isn't. It is also not a bun cut in half rather than in multiple small pieces. So, you are stuck with something in between. A mini burger sandwich :D

The best part about sandwiches is that you can make them on the go. They are fast, simple and delicious! To make mine a little more individual, I made a chicken/cabbage meat-pancakes (I do not know the English word as meatballs would not really fit here). It took me around 30 minutes to make the meat filling, put the bread in the oven and cut up the vegetables.

Also, this is a mini meal for two to three people and is best for a late breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

200 g chicken
150 g cabbage
Three strips of the cheap cheese (my weakness when it comes to sandwiches and hamburgers)
1 small cucumber
3 tomatoes
3 bread buns
lettuce
salt, pepper, spices
butter
garlic

This one is quite easy. You should have or make your chicken into a consistency for meatballs. As I do not have the machine at home and no one sells minced chicken here for some reason, I used a blender.

Put your chicken with cabbage, blend it, and add spices. Cabbage makes any meat juicy and you can not feel it when you eat, that is why it is the perfect medium for spectacular meatballs or meat-pancakes in my case :D

When the meat is a little like a paste, make it into meatballs an flatten them after, put them on a pan and cook until lightly brown on both sides.

While the meat is getting ready, take your bread and cut it in smaller pieces, one for the top and one for a bottom.

Spread butter and minced garlic cloves on half of the bottom ones. Add olive oil on the other half. Or leave some bare to spread some Philadelphia cheese on them later.

Heat up the oven and put the bread in it for around 3 to 5 minutes.

While the bread and meat are still getting ready for devouring, cut up your vegetables, wash the lettuce and get a plate.

Now, when everything is ready, do your thing. Add a lettuce on the bottom of the bread, then add all the middle parts, and another lettuce on top, before putting the top bread on. This way the bread won't get soggy from vegetable juice in case you are leaving leftovers behind.

Naturally, you do your thing and make your own sandwiches, with your favorite ingredients.

Sandwiches are easy but we do not eat them often. In fact, It is like a treat as our thing is eating rye bread with extras in the evening. White bread is not very popular in my apartment even though I love it and used to eat it in buckets when I was little.

That is all this week! Also, sorry for the delay, I have been caring for two. And, no, I do not have a kid nor am I expecting. My boyfriend had a knee injury and I have to take care of him as he can't walk much.

Have the best day. Today, tomorrow, and forever.
