Classic Homemade Pumpkin Pie

Happy October! The special ingredient for this week's @steemit-ironchef challenge is the Pumpkin. This festive fruit is very versatile and can be made into countless dishes, but I decided to go with the ultimate classic recipe: The Homemade Pumpkin Pie. Here you will learn how to make your very own pumpkin pie in just a few simple steps.

12 oz can of Evaporated Milk
2 eggs

Step 2: Add Water

Add the cold water to the mixture 1 tablespoon at a time. You will need 3 to 4 tablespoons, until the dough becomes workable

Step 3: Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a round shape, roughly 1/8 thick. It does not need to be a perfect circle, but it needs to be slightly larger than the outside diameter of the pie dish.

Step 4: Place the Dough in the Dish

This can be a tricky task. Use the roller as a tool to simplify the transfer. Be sure the pie dish is lightly greased.

Step 7: Bake

Bake the pie at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for roughly 50 minutes. It is finished when the pie is firm and does not jiggle when moved.

Step 8: Let It Set

Let the Pie set at room temperature before moving to the fridge to cool. Serve cold or re-heat in the oven to serve warm.

Love this post. The pie looks delicious. I'll veganize your recipe by using a nondairy milk and an egg substitute like flax seed and water. Can't wait to try it!

Love your step-by-step photos. Very helpful.

Thank you so much! Very nice meeting you this weekend, it was such an amazing event!

Looks like a perfect slice! Homemade crust for the win!

Homemade crust is always the way to go! It's only a few simple ingredients and the results are much better than the lousy store-bought shells.

Beautiful! I'll be right over ;0)

There's plenty to go around! I'll be making a couple more where that one came from... One small pumpkin yields a few of these bad boys!

It is all about the crust! Nice work.

Thanks for the recipe Ill have to see if the wife can make this for me. Ill love a good pumpkin Pie.

Looks delish, but I'm thinking that there's way too little whipped cream on that slice!! =)

My sister in law made a pumpkin pie last weekend as well, and we finished two full bottles of pressurized whipped cream while enjoying it. =DD

It's been ages since I last had a nice piece of pumpkin pie my friend! You gave me inspiration to make it soon!
Thanks so much!

Been wanting to make this but I haven't found evaporated milk yet here. Is it the same as condensed milk? Bookmarked for my next pumpkin project :-D good luck!
