Maple Pear Cobbler à la mode
Week 5 of the @steemit-ironchef challenge is upon us. This week the special ingredient is the Pear. I honestly have not had many pears in my lifetime, I consider myself to be more of an apple kinda guy. This cobbler goes both ways, it can be made with apples or pears. In this specific batch I made a Maple Pear cobbler that I served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Here is the recipe in a few simple steps:
Ingredients
5 Pears
1 cup of Rolled Oats
1 cup of Brown Sugar
1 stick of Butter for Topping
2 tablespoons of Butter for Filling
1/3 cup of Maple Syrup
1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
1/2 cup of flour
1/4 lemon
Step 1: Cut the Pears
Core the pears and slice them into 1/2 inch thick pieces. Put them in a large bowl and toss them with the juice of 1/4 lemon.
Step 2: Spread Them Out
Place the pears in a 9"x9" baking dish. Pour 1/3 cup of maple syrup and 2 tablespoons of melted butter over the pears and toss.
Step 3: Mix Up The Crumble
In a large bowl, mix 1 cup of oats, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of melted butter, 1/2 cup of flour and a tablespoon of cinnamon until crumbly.
Step 4: Top off the Pears
Spread the crumble mixture over pears.
Step 5: Bake
Bake it in the oven on 375 degrees Fahrenheit for roughly 45 minutes until the pears are tender. Be careful not to burn the topping.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
I like to enjoy mine alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
