Self-Healing Series - Insomnia
HELP! I CANT SLEEP!
I used to suffer from insomnia. I used to find it extremely hard to sleep. Some of the cause to this is due to excessive worry, depression and anxiety. These bad feelings keep my mind active when I am supposed to sleep. No wonder I spend so much time on my phone whilst lying down on my bed (so to get distracted then eventually tired) but that ends up usually many hours of Facebooking, Twittering etc and I get very little sleep. I was at a time, relied on "sleeping pills" such as Xanax etc as prescribed by doctors. They do help me to relax but I always I end up waking up on the 'wrong side' of the bed every time.
D.I.Y REMEDIES
Soak your feet in warm water, preferably with pool rock salt or if you can find rock salts, it is better. Rock salts are expensive where I am from
Meditation - As recommended by buddy @arconite - meditating for minimum 10 to 15 minutes does help. It is fairly easy. Just breathe. Feel your breath as you inhale and exhale. Lie down comfortably on your back. Say the word "relax" or "chill out" in your mind with every exhalation. Practice this twice daily - once in before you sleep, and another in the morning.
Binaural music (listen to them as you sleep). This is an app I use - 432hz tones help me. Brain Waves App
Drink Chamomile, Rooibos or Passionflower tea before hitting the bed every night for at least a week or two, or until you feel your sleep improves.
AVOID
Anything with caffeine. Be aware of some teas too as many of them contain caffeine eg. black teas.
Foods such as cheese, chocolate, tomatoes, potatoes or processed foods, as tyramine and other substances that affect the nervous system, may cause insomnia.
I really do hope my short self-healing and none expensive methods above helps you get a wonderful rest every night!
Here is a guided meditiation track I like to share with you.
Good-Night fellow Steemians!
I have very bad insomnia, tried many things and it is a real struggle, sometimes 10 am still had no sleep
try the methods above. If it still doesn't help, I suggest acupuncture. Honestly, some anxiety still bothers me and i am still practising these methods. I am still not fully "recovered" myself but it is improving. Good luck friend.
