Steem Power Up Day - July 1st: The Build Up

Hello beautiful people all over the globe. It is another opportunity to become more influential, to become more powerful, and to also be rewarded while doing this. It is the Steem Power Up Day (SPUD). This is a contest in which steemians are encouraged to power up steem to their accounts, and the accounts with the highest percentage of power up are rewarded handsomely.

SPUD is an interesting contest, hosted by @kiwiscanfly, and supported by well meaning steemians, including @xpilar @reflektor @hingsten @bippe @steemcurator01 @ciska @kiwi-crypto @steem-supporter @stephenkendal and so on. The next edition comes up on July 1, 2020 and everyone is invited to join in. I will also be participating in this edition, and it's going to be my first SPUD participation. to know the guidelines to join, please visit this post.

I am hereby participating in the @steemingcurators SPUD4STEEM Challenge, and I will be answering the following questions.

Why is it important to have STEEM POWER?

Having steem power makes you a stakeholder on the steem blockchain, thereby giving you a level of influence. Think of it as being a major shareholder in one of the biggest multinational companies around you. It makes your voice heard, it commands respect and honour, your ideas can be heard and implemented, and more importantly, you get a fair share of the company's profits. This is the same position you are in when you hold a high steem power.

• Steem power gives you the ability to vote people's posts
• It gives you curation rewards on posts that you vote on.
• It also gives you bandwidth. This is what determines how many activities you can carry out on the steem blockchain. The higher your steem power, the higher your bandwidth, meaning the higher the number of posts and comments you can make in a day.
• Steem power is an investment. Powering up steem to have steem power is a contribution that you will be making to the growth of the blockchain as we as the growth of your account. It makes you not only a consumer, but also an investor.

My Biggest Power up so Far

I cannot really recollect the exact figure of my biggest power up right now, but it is around 120 steem. I bought this amount of steem with my local currency at a time when steem price was very low (about N38 nigerian naira per steem). That was about $0.1 at the time. The value of the Nigerian currency is very low when compared to the USD. it is therefore not economical at all to purchase steem with it. For example, my monthly salary right now can only buy about 600 steem. However if one is able to make some earnings in USD, it will be considerably easier to buy.

How much STEEM POWER would I like to have?

It is a fact that no amount of money or influence can satisfy a man, as you will always want to be more influential. However, for now, I would love an amount of steem power that even at 75% Voting Power, I am still able to support a writer with up to $5 upvote. At the moment, that will be a steempower between 250000SP and 280000SP. With this, I will be able to focus more on curating and earning cool rewards for it.

Who would I want to support if I had 1 million STEEM POWER?

Oh, that is a lot of steem power and will entail a lot of curation. First of all I will support users who have amazing projects built on the steem blockchain, because these are the factors that bring more traction to the blockchain. I will also support creative writers like poets, artists, and other forms of creative art. I will also establish a project that attempts to feed people from nations being ravaged by poverty.

How much STEEM POWER would change My life?

At this stage of mine, 150000SP will do a lot in changing my life. This means with that amount of SP, I can reach out to a lot of writers and earn from supporting them. I would also earn a reasonable livelihood from it. This however would only be a step into the exact reality of a total change in my life. 1 million SP will bring about that total change, because the rewards from this can easily be used to set up a standard SME in my country, and my steem journey would take a huge leap.

Little drops they say, make an ocean. Let's say my power up this July 1st will be a step towards achieving that total change in my life. I will keep powering up, keep on getting enlightened, and keep steeming. I can't wait for July 1.
