Problem:
The system tends to be inherently inefficient due to the requirement of a large amount of heat for the evaporation of water and it is hard to dissipate this waster heat into the environment.
Solution:
Desalination is a process of removing salts from the sea water using solar energy to yield pure water. With this process of desalination in water it is become more critical in supplying drinking water across the world.
It uses free solar energy for operation and it is environment-friendly.

This could be absolutely huge. There is plenty of water on the planet, the problem is most of it is not drinkable. Desalinization is an expensive process because of the energy costs. Using solar to create clean water is the way to go. I love seeing these developments.

Hi @venzam, are you able to find anything that shows that anyone is actually building this project? The article you linked to is from 2010 and doesn't have any evidence that it's anything more than a concept.

Great tech, great product and I'm glad this tech is becoming a reality.
But (and it's a big BUT)...you have to be careful where, and how this tech is used. If my understanding is correct, the melting of the polar ice-caps is having a desalinating effect on the oceans already - and one which could have major impacts on our planet.
It was a while ago, but I read research where they were projecting that the desalination of the ocean could halt, or disrupt the Gulf Stream - which is like a conveyor belt, bringing warm warters from South America up to Western Europe. If this were to happen, much of Northern Europe could be thrown into freezing temperatures, and there'd be wider effects for the rest of the planet too.
So, yes this is good tech, but maybe it should be used very caredully and only if we're 100% sure it won't have a negative impact in one region, whilst massively helping another. I'm all for helping people get much needed clean water in the Middle East, or Australia, but not if it plunges much of Europe into a mini-Ice-Age!

Great sustainable solution to remove salts from seawater thanks to solar energy. It can be very useful in Middle East. The project Teatro Agua Solar Desalination plant was a project in 2010 and must be built in Spain’s Canary Islands. Was it built? I can't find any info on this subject. Thanks for sharing this project @venzam
