Steem Hunt - A Glimpse Into the Future

Too often we get stuck in the 'Right Now' mindset and because of this, we lose the ability to see further down the road. This happens in every facet of life, from diet and health to learning an instrument, from your job to personal finances.

Being too concerned with the 'right now' limits our ability to prepare for the future. There might be amazing things just down the road but because we are only looking a few feet in front of us, we don't see the big picture.

@steemhunt. One of the first SMT's that will launch Steem into a new era.

When the idea of SMT's was launched months ago people were excited for something new, but also not sure exactly what a SMT is and how it will function. Fast forward to today and we can see that there are several teams out there working rigorously to tokenize their idea and get it on to the steem blockchain. One of those ideas is @steemhunt. The idea behind Steemhunt is that users (hunters) look for cool new tech products or gadgets that consumers might be interested in. After posting, other hunters will upvote based on the products 'coolness'. What is awesome is that they use Account Based Voting(ABV) so that each account has a similar weight, and there is no advantage for whales. At the end of each day the products receiving the most votes get a solid upvote from the @steemhunt account. The higher up your post ranks in the daily chart, the bigger the upvote you get from the main account. What is cool is that each day the ranking system resets and hunters look for new products once again.

The interface is easy to use and all the buttons are pretty self explanatory. Another cool feature is that self voting gives you no added benefits in this system. Self-vote all you want, but it won't help you rank any higher on the @steemhunt platform. What's more is that only votes that are placed using the steemhunt platform count for the daily ranking. If @ned were to give you a massive upvote for a steemhunt post, but he gave you that upvote on the steemit platform, it wouldn't help you rank any higher.

The above picture is a breakdown of the 250 million tokens that up for grabs, the breakdown is pretty self explanatory. The other 250 million tokens will be airdropped to all steemit users and any unclaimed tokens will be burned. This project is still very new and there are bound to be some hiccups along the way as users try and game the system to tilt the odds in their favour. But the team working behind the scenes is actively working to sniff out abuse and modifying the algorithms so that it is a fair playing field for everyone.

The creator @tabris deserves a lot of credit for putting this together and growing the community quickly and efficiently. The team is growing and the mods are doing a great job making sure the project runs smoothly and efficiently. Co-founder @project7 and his team are working round the clock to make sure that everyone has a fair chance to profit and earn @steemhunt tokens.

But if hunting products is not your thing, just remember that this is just one idea that will be turned into an SMT when they are officially launched next year. There can be hundreds even thousands of use cases and different niches to tokenize. This is gonna move steem to elite status and hopefully make everyone involved in the early stages, very happy.
