Hi guys, this is vinaykumarr , i,m back with another post in which I will be discussing about breast cancer in detail ( this will be useful for medical students only, and the one who are interested in learning new things ). DESCRIPTION
coming to breast cancer I’m going to tell you about the following things:
- Anatomy of breast
- Pathology of breast cancer
- Clinical features
- Treatment
Anatomy
The basic anatomy of any body organ can be easily understood through diagrams only. So I will use some images to make you understand easily.
Extent:
- vertically- breast extends from 2nd rib to 6th rib vertically
- horizontally- from lateral border of sternum to mid axillary line.
Deeper structures posterior to breast are
- Pectoralis major
- serratus anterior
- external oblique
These are the inner structures that present inside a breast:
glands & stroma
so guys if you ever wonder why breast drops in elderly people or obese!! its just because of the weakening of the structures called ligaments of Cooper.
The images above are very important because its by these means the cancer of breast will spread in our body and leads to worst prognosis.
Through the arteries the cancer from the breast May spread to the following structures
- Bones( lumbar vertebrae> femur> thoracic vertebrae> ribs> skull).
- liver
- lungs
- brain
Through the lymphatic system the cancer May spread to the following structures
- Lymph nodes especially axillary and internal mammary.
- From lymph nodes it May spread to liver and even the peritoneal structures.
so guys for today I will end here and discuss about the pathology, clinical features and treatment in the upcoming post
SUMMARY:
From today’s post things you have to learn and spread to your beloved one are:
- Read the spreading part and inform to the one who are having breast abnormalities.
- Look the organs I have mentioned in the cancer spreading and take immediate consultation from a Doctor
- Any person had a fracture with normals falls, be alert it might be a pathological fracture due to spread of cancer to the bones.
