#STEEMGIGS: TODAY I LEARNED ABOUT A LAW ABOUT PLANTING TREES
Today I learned that it is my obligation as a Filipino to plant a tree every year. If you’re a Filipino, then it is your duty too. Believe it or not, that’s what the law said. What law? It’s the Republic Act 10176 or also known as the Arbor Day Act of 2012. This law was intended to urge people to plant trees every year. All able-bodied Filipino citizens aged 12 and up, are required to plant one tree each year. That’s not hefty at all.
Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
It is our job (personally) to know the law as a citizen of a certain country, and abide by it.
It’s a beautiful law with a beneficial intention. Imagine all the benefits if this law thrives with its purpose. It’s literally a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, this law is virtually useless. There was no proper information dissemination, and I personally not seeing anyone from the government implementing it. I am not sure if there’s a place in the Philippines, where the implementation is visible at all. I am not trying to diss our government officials at all, am just stating a fact. Take note, there’s no punishment for violators of this law, no wonder nobody bothers to follow it. Laws were meant to be implemented.
We Don’t Need A Law
We actually don’t need a law to plant a tree. It must be a nature for us humans. It is our responsibility to protect our home planet. Birds and other animals are contributing in sowing without knowing it, why not us too?
Let’s plant trees and start it with the ‘man in the mirror’.

I planted a mahogany sapling in our backyard last February, I'm good for this year. ^.^
I wish more people knew about this law and follow suit. We need more trees in our environment.
