#STEEMGIGS (LIFE) : MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE WORK (PART 1)

in #steemgigs6 years ago

Few days back, I started a series on Marriage Matters. I started with telling you all The Blueprint of Marriage and today I will be telling how HOW TO MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE WORK.

Let's get started...

Laurel packed a bag for herself and her 14-months-old baby, left her matrimonial home and headed straight to her parent's house. With a tearstained, angry face and her baby in her arms, she walked into her mom's kitchen, sobbing and declaring her desire for divorce. "Mom, it's over. I can no longer stand that chauvinistic slave driver." She went on and on about how shabbily her husband, Chris, treated her, how he talked her down and asked her to quit her job and sit at home to take care of their son, yet he wouldn't give her money for her upkeep.

Giving her some room to vent her anger, her mom gently took the already sleeping child from her, went into the room and lay him on the bed. When she returned to the kitchen, Laurel had finished her pity party. Her mom handed her a paper towel to clean her face and a cup of tea to calm her nerves. Laurel blew her nose with the paper towel, and gulped down a generous portion of the tea. "Laurel dear," her mother began gently, taking her hand in hers, "Your dad and I are here to help you with whatever you need." That statement warmed Laurel's heart. She felt so comforted and her face brightened up a little.

Seeing Laurel's face had brightened up a little, she added, "But before you take the final decision to opt out of your marriage, I have something I'll like you to do for me. I know this isn't the best time for me to be making demands, but will you do this one thing for me now?" Laurel nodded in affirmation. She took out a plain sheet and a pen from a drawer, drew a vertical line down the middle of the page, gave the paper to Laurel and said, "I want you to write a list of all the things that make you want to leave Chris on the left column."

Collecting the paper from her mother, Laurel looked at her in suspicion. She believed her mom would also ask her to make a list of her husband's good qualities on the right column when she's done with that of his weaknesses. Therefore, she decided to do a list of his weaknesses that would be quite longer than his strengths. She listed items, which filled the column. Apparently, she had more than enough evidence to prove Chris was a terrible husband.

Smugly, she said to her, who was sitting at the other end of the kitchen table watching but praying in her heart, "Now, I guess you're going to ask me to list all his good qualities on the right column."

"No!" Her mother responded emphatically. "I already know his good qualities. I'd rather you write on the right column, your response or reaction each time he exhibited the behaviour you listed on the left." Though against her will, she wrote her reaction against each list on the right column to write anything more.

When she was through, her mom took the paper from her, cut it down the vertical line into two halves with a pair of scissors, handed her the side containing her reactions, and said to her, "Take this back to your house, reflect on your actions and sincerely pray about them. If you still want out of the marriage after you've done what I said, then your dad and I will help you get what you want." She squeezed the other half of the paper and threw it into the trash can.

Laurel frowned. She could feel the fight leaving her. She picked up her baby from the room and drove back home. When she got home, she took out the list and read it through. She was shocked to see that all her reactions had been those of criticism, complaints, blame, accusations, sarcasm, anger, mean digs, and snide remarks. Ashamed of herself and convinced that she'd done nothing positive to fix the marriage, she knelt beside her matrimonial bed and, with a sorrowful heart, cried to God for forgiveness.

Sometimes, it is important to take off some time and sincerely reflect on your contributions to your relationship. When you do this, you may discover that you're the problem of your marriage; you, and no other person, let the devil into your home. But you don't have to allow the devil destroy your marriage through you. Marriage is a beautiful thing, but the devil is all out to destroy it, and has succeeded in ruining many relationships. You'll be surprised to know that the main strategy he deploys is using one or both partners to tear their own relationship apart.

How does he do that? How does he make marriages generally to fall apart?

Well, you're about to find out. Just watch out for my next blog posts.

Your contributions via comments will be highly appreciated and welcomed.

Also,

BECOME A ULOGGER TODAY!!

As written and stated by @surpassinggoogle :

Ulogs are many other "beautiful things":

U5dqvcbdAVrzggbdmim1GhmLnFp7mVX_1680x8400.jpg

  • The "U" in "Ulogs" represents "YOU".
  • With ULOGS, "YOU", is what's pertinent and media formats e.g no-Vlogs, no-cameras, shyness etc should pose no barrier to you extending "YOU" to us and to the world, ever-constantly; "tirelessly".
  • With ULOGS, "you are celebrity and we your fans".
  • With Ulogs, you now have at least one steemit post idea daily, that constitutes YOU. "No longer, should there be a day, that the world is starved of your beauty".
  • With ULOGS, "no longer should a day emptily slip by, without "your shine" in it.
  • With ULOGS, want you to shine. We want you to lit the steem blockchain and shake it with your beauty.
  • With your ULOGS, we will create a fresh trend for #ulog/#ulogs on the entire web-space, filling it with the indispensable awesomeness called; "human"; steemhuman; "steemians".
  • ULOGS: Each day and "YOU" in it; carries it's own freshness. So, not a day aren't we capable of re-shaping the entire internet with a piece of freshness.
  • By means of our Ulogs, we will be creating historical history by reshaping the internet; surpassing Google in the process.
  • With ULOGS: "No longer should there be a day, when we can't add value to the steem blockchain". No more will there be a day on the steem blockchain, when you can say, "i don't have a steemit post idea.
  • With ULOGS; "we will keep us ever-present on the web-space; opening us ever-incessantly to opportunities; "even breakthrough opportunities".
  • By means of our ULOGS; "our kids and generations yet unborn will read of us and know that we were here each day, evolving in our substance, so that we can leave them legacies behind.
  • By means of our ULOGS, we will have fun; fly; shine. The world and its toughness can deaden and relegate "our shine" into remoteness and forgotten-ness; by means of the steem blockchain (OUR ULOGS), we want to use each day, to recover some of "our shine" back.
  • And if we have lost our shine completely, we will gradually restore it using each ULOG and begin to shine again, like the "true celebrities" that we are: "light in the tunnel".
  • ULOGS: Learning; especially learning about yourself; is the ultimate earning.
  • The essence of the #ULOGS movement is to remove "barriers to entry", when it comes to "mining the human", using each content-blog that we create.
  • You can be Ulogger and "all that's needed is "YOU" and each day and this we will celebrate".
  • ULOGS: There is nothing as fresh (in terms of content) as "pieces of us". It is dynamic, fresh, unique, rare. And no "two days" are exactly the same, especially with "You" in it, for we accrue experiences, new moments, new adventures etc.We aspire new resolutions each day and fail and succeed and "succeed overall", by virtue of "the gift of life" and this we will document all these celebratorily on the steem blockchain using our ULOGS!!

I AM A ULOGGER!!
