Steemfest – The Future Autarkic Village Is Near You
While you are there to talk about the future of the blockchain, social media and Steemit you might also want to take the opportunity to visit one of the most modern autarkic village on earth in the making.
Regen, the new village is built to be completely self-sufficient. It is applying the most advanced methods for growing food—a combination of aeroponics, aquaponics, permaculture, food forests, and high-yield organic farming. The Village also producing its own energy.
The virtuous cycle of energy and food supply works like this:
Composted able Household Waste will feed livestock or soldier flies.
Fish will eat the flies.
The fish wastes will fertilize the aquaculture system.
The aquaculture system produces fruit and vegetables.
And the livestock waste will fertilize seasonal gardens.
For the energy production a mixture of geothermal, solar, solar thermal, wind and biomass will be used.
The construction of the village is planned to be completed by End of 2017.
The Regen village in Oosterwold the outskirts of Almere will have 100 homes. It is 20 minutes by train from Amsterdam.
