SteemFest Epilogue - Four Positive things to do when Steem is down!

View this post on Hive: SteemFest Epilogue - Four Positive things to do when Steem is down!

In mid-February 2020 Justin Sun acquired the shares in Steemit Inc and proceeded centralise the blockchain under his control, improperly using Steemit's founders stake (intended for development and decentralisation of the blockchain) and tricking exchanges into initially supporting his power grab.

After extensive efforts to resolve the dispute failed, the community revolted and formed a new, fully decentralised blockchain - Hive - without the pernicious influence of Justin Sun and his minions.
Because of Open Source licensing, Hive was legally able to duplicate all the code and content on Steem.
The vast majority of the community and decentralised applications and projects moved to Hive and Hive was listed on many cryptocurrency exchanges without having to pay the normal listing fees.

On 19 May 2020, a Steem hard fork (0.23) designed to steal the Steem from 65 accounts associated with creating Hive became public.
My position on this hard fork can be found here: https://peakd.com/hf23/@brianoflondon/letter-to-exchanges-do-not-run-steem-hard-fork-23-hf-0-23-0

This was the final straw for my involvement with Steem.

I will now post exclusively on Hive at https://peakd.com/@apshamilton/posts
All my old Steem content can also be found on Hive.

I got back from SteemFest so excited and inspired by all the amazing people and apps developing on the Steem platform.
I really saw the future Cryptocosm or Web 3.0 coming together with Steem leading the way.

I even got my first Steem Monsters cards and bought a few more! Although I haven't yet found time to play a game. I'm a bit worried about getting addicted! :-)

And now on top of post SteemFest blues, the markets have had another 2 big drops!
Just after I bought more Steem :-(

It can be a real bummer and get you down, but temporary market fluctuations are quite irrelevant to the future we are developing together.

At SteemFest @techslut said "Community is Everything".
And its so true.
Steem has a fantastic community and we all need to focus on.

In times like these it is important to look at the positives in the situation.

Here are four pro-active steps to make things better.

1. Signup for the Crypto Class Action against Facebook & Google's Crypto Ad Ban

The Crypto Ad Ban is still in place and causing damage to the Cryptocosm and weighing down the markets.
This means that the more the markets drop the greater the amount of damages that can be recovered from Facebook & Google.

@jpbliberty reports that its had a lot of good signups lately and are getting closer to writing letters of demand to Facebook & Google.
It may settle before Court and if so, only those signed up will get a payout!

So take 2 minutes to sign up now!

2. Buy some Steem while it is cheap.

You can become a Dolphin (5000+ SP) for less than $2200 at the moment!
This is obviously not investment advice but about taking a bigger stake in the amazing Steem community.

3. Keep posting Quality Content

While the $ earn on posts is way down, the actual amount of SP & Steem earned is slightly higher because less people are posting thus giving active users a slightly higher percentage of the rewards pool.

4. Explore all the amazing Steem Apps

There are great apps for every taste and interest.
Take the time to check them out and get involved if you are interested.
@utopian-io @steemmonster @steempeak @partiko @steemhunt @actifit @appics @wise-team @engrave @esteem @steeveapp

This is far from a complete list. Watch the SteemFest presentations to find more.
