Steemhunt - For All Product Enthusiasts on Steemit

As we introduced in the previous post, we are building Steemhunt, a place where product lovers - referred to as ‘hunters’ - can discover new cool products, share them with the community, upvote and comment on them, and most importantly, be rewarded with STEEM tokens for their contribution. Why Steemit Blockchain Needs a Product Hunt Replica

We love both Steemit and Product Hunt. We’ve featured our products on Product Hunt several times and we’re always impressed with the great hunters who have upvoted and left invaluable feedback for us. We began this project with this simple thought.

“What if enthusiastic hunters can earn STEEM tokens for their dedicated activities to keep them motivated, not just by non-financial benefits, but also crypto-fueled rewards?”

It’s essential for popular communities to consider monetisation to maintain their services. Usually they choose advertising-based models, such as banner ads or sponsored posts. Product Hunt invented an unique way of monetisation called ‘Ship,’ a subscription-based toolkit for makers. None of these are actually related to the direct sustainability of user’s commitment. They are just for the company itself, and sometimes the monetisation trials disturb a large amount of user experiences.

However, the hunters can stay motivated when their contributions are compensated in both financial and non-financial ways. Then, the community service provider does not need any complicated form of monetisation that requires huge efforts to promote and persuade users. Thus, a good community can gain long-term sustainability.

This is why we initiated Steemhunt. Our goal is to provide a community website that lets Steemit users share and discover new products everyday, and their dedicated actions will be compensated with STEEM tokens just like Steemit.

Benefits of Making a Micro-form Channel in Steemit

In the past, most Steemit posts were long, detailed articles. Many great authors have provided their knowledge and insight to readers through well-structured writing. But, nowadays, many micro-blogging Steem apps are invented such as @Steepshot and @Zappl. We believe that various types of blogging formats will help this STEEM ecosystem grow and capture more users in the long-term. Especially, @Steepshot which has made it easier for photo- and meme-enthusiasts to access to Steemit.

We think Steemhunt can become a perfect micro-form blogging channel on Steemit. In Steemhunt, the users do not need to make a detailed product review. They just need to provide several screenshots, a title and short description, just like Product Hunt. Also, people can quickly glance at the listed products everyday through the product ranking chart rather than tirelessly searching through the reviews.

Hunters can list simple product information such as a URL, name and short description on Steemhunt.

We are working on launching Steemhunt in January 2018. The main features will be:

Steem users can feature any products, and all actions will be synced with your Steemit account and rewarded by STEEM tokens.
The daily ranking system will be applied by the Steemit upvoting system. The rank will be organized by the pending payout values on a daily basis.
Steemhunter can assign other contributors such as product makers, and they can share generated rewards with them (via beneficiaries).
