I want to see your introductory blog
Why? Because you are my new friend! Mr reputation 68! I wonder what you are about? Tell me some things I don't know about you. Ahh, I have an idea... I'll go and check your intro post!
Five minutes later, you are still scrolling down and waiting for the next set of posts to load for this user... it must be here soon, they joined in July 2016...
OK, found it!.... Ah crap, this was the 3rd post they submitted... Hang on... I thought they'd moved to Asia... and were married now?! Balls! This post is way out of date! Maybe they have an updated version... I'll start scrolling back up... ahh, forget it, [clicks home and starts scrolling down again].
Sometimes we can miss the obvious
This actually wasn't my idea, I think I have been here too long to come up with it. 'New user' and girlfriend @osm0sis, is keen to grow her 'follow' list steadily, building relationships with photographers and travelers. For older users, we may have resigned ourselves to the fact that this list is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard, but if you could start from scratch, you'd do it better this time, right? :)
'I want to know where they live, where they are from, what they are interested in'
'I need to imagine the person'
Fair points, and something which could help answer these questions would be to read a users introductory post. However, the current issues are that:
- This post could be 2000 blogs down a users feed
- They may have 2/3 revisions hidden within their feed
What we need is an easy way to keep our latest 'about me' post visible and easily accessible
Presenting a possible solution
In the 'settings' page, an option to enter the URL of your most relevant introduction post:
The link to this post now appears on your 'blog' profile page when users click your username:
Like all the best ideas, it's simple and I presume quite easy to develop into the existing interface.
How high on the priority list it would reach I am not sure, but I hope it is at least considered.
What do you guys think? Useful? A waste of development time? Or
We don't care! (stop talking about Steemit and do more blogs about yourself?!)
Thanks for reading and have a lovely Sunday!
I find this a great idea. They should make this work starting yesterday. Have done this looking back also a couple of times. Really need patience to finally find what you re looking for. Again, great idea.
Thanks @smasssh. I'll take all the credit for this one :)
You can, haha. I´ve read it, sorry i didn´t mention you.
Can you imagine the stick I'd be getting right now if I didn't mention it wasn't my idea?!
lol
Yo @smasssh, do you use discord chat or steemit.chat?
Neighter one of them (yet). Have tried though to enter discord a couple of weeks ago, but didn't work/could not get through.
Wanna ask me (in private) to marry you?, hahaha
😂😂😂 maybeeee
Try discord again via minnowsupport link 👍🏾 Somert to do with booster...
No worries ;) abh12345, aka my scribe, is transferring all funds made on this post to moi
The man is the boss, as long he does what the wife says, isnt it? haha
That's right!
Thanks @smasssh
Glad (unglad) you've had the same experience and would like to see this addition!
I agree that this would be very useful. I now copied the url of my introducion post into the "website" item of my profile, but of course that's not ideal.
Hey dude, that's a neat idea!
Brilliant!
Ha! That actually completely solves the problem. Thanks for thinking of this. I'm going to do it right now.
The only disadvantage is that you can only have 1 URL, so if you have another link you want there, it's not going to work.
True. But its a good alternative for people who don't have other links.
Great idea... like your "list-idea".
"Save a post" also would be great (I know, FB has that tool, and I think it s really useful)... cause there are some great posts out there.
Ciaoooo
Thanks @steemitri!
Saving a post is something I use my favourites for, like the list of follows, but maybe the Steemit interface could manage those fav. Posts too.
Have a great day! 😁
I'm using the Steemit UI Tools for that; check it out here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemchiller/introducing-my-steemit-ui-tools-sct
Thanks guys for your reply!
@rmz thanks for the link... I didn't know about that ;-) I will try o install the whole thing... thanks!
Nice! Just spent an hour messing with it and it works well for the groups! Filters don't seem to be working in chrome yet, but ill carry on.
Thanks for the info!
Sounds like a good idea. I personally think the whole profile appearance needs to be updated like seperating resteems from actual own blog posts. maybe even implementing different sections one can browse just like if you'd had an actual blog.
Food / Travel / China / Steemit / etc.
Hi Robert, thanks for stopping by!
Yes I agree, plenty of work required - maybe the communities update will cover some of your points? Cheers!
What's the communities update about? haven't heard about that one yet
Check yesterday's blog, should be plenty there for you, including links to GitHub and the Whitepaper. 😁
Haha alright. Heading there!
This is an excellent idea ! 💡
Thank you
Thanks Dan!
This is really an awesome idea my friend! Having this option will really help a lot, sometimes it's really difficult looking for the intro post of someone and scrolling down one's blog is really complicated!
With this updated intro post saved there, will be just great for everyone!
Wonderful idea, hope it gets pick up by the devs!
Thanks chef! Let's see, I hope so too!
