SALVATION IS NOW

And do this,
knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed (Romans 13: 11)

I love the Weymouth New Translation of the above scripture. "Carry out these institutions because you know the critical period at which we are living, and that it is now high time to awake out of sleep, for our salvation is now nearer to us than when we first became believers".
This translation brings out four vital issues to us as Christians.

First, the instructions of the Lord. What the Lord has redeemed us for and called us into the Christian faith for. We are not to neglect them, as they are our duty and responsibility to the Lord

Second, the critical period we are living in. Apostle Paul says it is evil, perverse and corrupt times. And mind you, it's becoming more and more evil, sinful, hard and perverse everyday.

Third, we are to wake up from sleep. This is serious but true. For many of us Christians are sleeping, slumbering and have become sluggish, not fervent. Scripture calls this condition lukewarm, indifferent and carnal. As a result, we are neglecting this great salvation, and slowly drifting away from God, from His grace, from His holiness and from the true gospel. The signs of this are everywhere.
Fourth, our coming salvation is now nearer to us. As I said earlier on, as the days, the months and the years pass away, they are reminders and signs that the Saviour's coming is at hand, is getting nearer and nearer. And the Scriptures affirmed to us that He is coming for those who are ready and waiting for Him

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
(Heb 9: 28) ,

For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
(Phil 3: 18 -21).

So what shall we say to all these things? Paul answers us as he answered the believers in Corinth, "Look, now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation (2 Cor 6: 2). The choice and decision for your salvation is in your hands, and is now and today. So wake up and embrace God's great salvation in Christ.
So as you go through the rest of the year, awake and make salvation of God a central issue in your life for the Saviour is coming.

May you awaken today from sleep, sluggishness lukewarmness, and negligence and embrace fully God salvation in Jesus name. Amen
