Only in God is the Perfection

Matthew 5:48
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

The theme of Christian perfection is a theological issue so volatile that most preachers refuse to venture to deal with it.

The Apostle Paul also confessed that he had not succeeded. "Not that I have already attained it, nor that it is already perfect, but I press on, to see if I reach that for which I was also attained by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider that I have already reached it; but one thing I do, I forget what is left behind, I extend myself to what is before me and I press on to the goal, to the reward to which God has called me from heaven in Christ Jesus "(Philippians 3: 12-14).

"And the Lord said to Satan: Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on earth, a perfect and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil?" (Job: 2: 3). "But narrow is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life and few find it" (Matthew 7:14).

Most of humanity willingly accepts the blessings of God and then wastes them selfishly as the prodigal son. But how do you think Jesus feels when a Christian moves away from His presence after receiving mercy and life and returns to the cruel world with his sinful influences? When we see and understand something about what our sins cost Christ, we will never want to return to the world that killed our Lord.

Jesus did not come to die on the cross to buy us a license to continue sinning. He came to save us from sin. That love is the power that enables us to get away from sin.

We are sent to the world as Jesus was, called to walk like Him, to do as He did, to forgive as He forgave and to love as He loved.

What, then, is the essence of Christian perfection?

If we look closely at the context of Matthew 5, Jesus speaks of loving our enemies, but when we get to verse 48 where Jesus says, "Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect" it becomes evident that He speaks of the perfect love, and as another reference to
 this we find additional proof in Luke 6:36, where Jesus expresses it in a different way: "Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father is merciful."

So Christian perfection, is perfect Perfect love and mercy.

Perfect love is demonstrated in the willingness to obey. "If you love me, you will keep my Commandments" (John 14:15). For example, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego loved God more than their own lives and were willing to enter the fiery furnace before dishonoring it.
