Short Easter Message

The folowing are words from Paul:

1 Corinthians 1:17-ff
God didn’t send me out to collect a following for myself, but to preach the Message of what he has done, collecting a following for him. And he didn’t send me to do it with a lot of fancy rhetoric of my own, lest the powerful action at the center—Christ on the Cross—be trivialized into mere words.
18–21 The Message that points to Christ on the Cross seems like sheer silliness to those hell-bent on destruction, but for those on the way of salvation it makes perfect sense. This is the way God works, and most powerfully as it turns out. It’s written,
I’ll turn conventional wisdom on its head,
I’ll expose so-called experts as crackpots

There is a story about a woman who had need of a cross for jewelry. She went out to shop for the cross and went into a pawnshop asking to see the crosses. The woman behind the counter said, “Do you want one of these plain ones or one with a little man on it?” The meaning of the cross has been obscured in our time to the place where this woman only saw a little man rather than a figure representing the savior of all mankind.

So Let us be clear, all these Easter Egg hunts and candies etc, are not what Easter is about. except to the extent that they point to new life. We, as christians, are celebrating the fact that by faith in Jesus' life death and resurrection, we are free to be acceptable to the Father, forgiven fully , as Scripture says, washed as white as snow.
