Elisha Cleansed a Leper

2Ki 5:14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

Elisha was a miracle worker doing many miracles really like none other during his day and he was the protégé of Elijah another miracle worker who was even taken like Jesus was when Jesus ascended into heaven. So many similarities!

He raised the boy from the dead.

2Ki 4:34 And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.
2Ki 4:35 Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

Jesus portrayed in the life of Elijah and Elisha

Jesus was and is the greatest miracle worker of all time. Elisha wanted a double portion of the anointing on Elijah and many have a count of 8 major miracles of Elijah and 16 of Elisha. Elijah had a zeal for God unrivaled in his day. I see him taking on the prophets of Baal as being similar to Jesus cleansing the temple from the money changers.

2Ki 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Jesus
Act 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Elisha
2Ki 4:44 So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the LORD. (Our text)

Mat 15:36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
Mat 15:37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

II Kings 5 14 Cleansing of the leper

Mar 1:40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mar 1:41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
Mar 1:42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

I believe it is also noteworthy that before Elijah left he had spent considerable amount of time with Elisha preparing him and when he left his mantle fell on Elisha and he commissioned Elisha to take his place and continue his work.

Jesus had spent 3 1/2 years with His disciples and also commissioned them to carry on His Work on earth in His physical absence, but he also left His mantle for the church meaning the Holy Spirit

Just before He ascended in they sight

Act 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
