Some weeks ago, the Steem Skill Acquisition Training (SSAT) project was birth and I made a post about it. Two weeks ago, I announced that the first training will be on Fish Farming and Poultry farming and it will be taken round to some states. I later announced that the first Fish Farming and Poultry Farming training will be in Abuja in the 26th of May, 2018.

Abuja to host the first SSAT on fish farming and poultry farming
I thank God the first SSAT as taken place and here is the full report of the training.
As announced, the training was on Fish Farming and Poultry Farming. The training was done on Saturday 26th May 2018 at Papal Ground, Kubwa. The venue was chosen cos there are so many fish farms and poultry pens to visit.
The facilitator(trainer) was Mr Peter Nechi who is the CEO of Pezachi Pevic Resources Ltd. Their subsidiaries include Pezachi Farms, Pezachi Feedmills and Pezachi Precast Co.
He is also the PRO of the Nigeria Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Federal Capital Territory branch. Mr Peter just registered on steemit after discussing about the training with him and introduced him to steemit. His username on steemit is @aquacentre
There was a good turnout of participants for the training, both steemians and non-steemians. The total number of people that participated in the training was 16 (10 steemians and 6 non-steemians)
Steemians the came for the training are:
- @damascene
- @teeflow
- @kevwealth
- @yungchief
- @adedoyinwealth
- @roman3
- @jacobite
- @wales007
- @korexe
- @promize123
And the non-steemians are:
- Inyang Helen G.
- Chimeduaro Okpara
- George
- Obioma Oparaku
- Stephen
- Odinaka Peters
The training started with a welcome speech by the organizer of the training, @fatherfaith (myself). I welcomed every body to the training and also explained what SSAT is all about.
After welcoming everybody to the training, I introduced the steemchurch Nigeria leader, @adedoyinwealth who represented steemchurch and @sirknight who is the sponsor of the training to say a few words about steemchurch.
I introduced Mr. Peter after the speech delivered by @adedoyinwealth. And the training began. The facilitator explained in details everything involved in fish farming and poultry farming (but duel more on fish farming).
Some of what he explained were
- Objectives of the training
- Needs for farming
- Factors to consider for a farm
- Value chain components in catfish farm
- Basic means by which fish can be reared
- Treatment/fertilizing of ponds before introducing fish
- Feeding/feeding frequency
- Record/book keeping
And so on.
He welcomed questions from the trainees which he all answered. Almost everyone have one thing or the other to ask.
After the first round of training, I called on @jacobite to give a short lecture about steemit so that non-steemians present will get to know and understand what steemit is all about. After the short lectures on steemit, questions were asked which were answered by @jacobite and myself.
After the steemit lecture, we proceeded to the farms for the second round of the training where we visited different farms. We were able to differentiate the farms well managed and those that were not well managed. We also visited a section where fishes are been processed.
After the training, participants were served biscuits, Pepsi and bottled water as refreshment.
After the refreshment, we took pictures together and some of the participants did short videos in appreciation to the organizers of the training. I will put up the videos later in another post.
Some steemians that participated in the training had already posted about the training. You can see some of their posts here:
