The purpose of many versions of the Bible

The Septuagint, the Greek version of the Hebrew Bible began in the 3rd century B.C
Next, a version I'm the Syriac, an Aramaic dialet was completed by A.D 150. The reformation created a wave of new interest in Bible translation. In the 16th century, entire Bible's were published in a number of languages. The 19th century"the missionary century", saw parts of the Bible appearing in 496 additional languages and dialects as missionaries went to all parts of the world.
Today, the task of making the Bible available to all the people of the world is being pressed so urgently that some part of the Bible appears in a new language or dialect about every 6 weeks.

Versions in English

why many versions in English? Since John Wycliffe's 1382 version new translation have been made for two reasons. First, additional ancient manuscripts have been found, and our knowledge of Biblical languages, times and customs, has greatly increased, this making more accurate translations possible. Second l, translators seek to make the language more understandable and meaningful to the reader, particularly by using contemporary speech forms and vocabulary. The work has been largely the version of previous versions, using to advantage the additional helps available.

What use should we make of the many BIble versions?

A comparison of the different BIble versions can be an aid to Bible study. We do not have access to any of the original manuscript called "autographs". None of the ones we have now we're taken from the originals, but rather from other copies, since the copies were made by hand, obviously, in the process of thousands of copying, copiest errors were introduced into the Bible manuscript. As new copies were made, the older errors were perpetuated and new ones added. However all the mistakes will not cause one soul trouble to, or cause any feet to stumble

Difference in text-called "Varients". Crept in by various ways, words, phrases and sometimes whole lines or several lines were inadvertently omitted , in some cases words are added -articles inserted before nouns. On some occasions names are substituted for pronouns. Sometimes a synonym is found in place of the original word. Poor handwriting and poor spelling account for the varients. Marginal notes were sometimes copied into new manuscript by mistake. Words that looked like other words and yet had different meanings were confused. The absence of punctuation marks and spaces between words in the ancient manuscript made it easy for untrained eyes to mistake some words.
Manuscript containing all part of the Greek New Testament total about 4,500, manuscript of the Old Testament are not as much as those of NewTestament. In 1947 the Dead sea scrolls were found.
Before 1947, the oldest known Hebrew manuscripts were made in the 9th and 10th centuries A.D. These were produced by Jewish scholars known as the Masoretes.
Archealogical findings have thrown great light on the languages, history and customs of the Bible.

God bless you

This is @bigssam

Sort:

So very true. (Don't forget the Sumerian cuneiform 7 tablet's of creation and The epic of Gilgamesh are also version's of the bible just in a different way)

Ancient texts are fascinating and underappreciated. @ironshield

However all the mistakes will not cause one soul trouble to, or cause any feet to stumble

Indeed it will not give cause to stumble. As the author of the Bible, Jehovah God wants people of all nations to listen to his word and be able to read it in their own language.

Acts 10:34,35.
34 At this Peter began to speak, and he said: “Now I truly understand that God is not partial, 35 but in every nation the man who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him

He does not restrict His knowledge to one language.
Great read @bigssam. Thanks for sharing.

God wants his plan to come true that why we have Bible in many languages

A little bit of history concerning the Holy Bible has just been emphasised, stay blessed @bigsam
