The Apostle Paul A Man of Testimony

Acts 20: 22-24

And now keep in mind that I am going to Jerusalem forced by the Spirit, without knowing what awaits me there. All I know is that in all the cities the Holy Spirit assures me that prisons and sufferings await me. However, I consider that my life has no value for myself, as long as I finish my career and carry out the service entrusted to me by the Lord Jesus, which is to bear witness to the gospel of God.

Pablo was a human being like you and me, He was not supernatural, He is not a fictional character. The bible is not a novel but real history. His life was real. However, his example is so impressive that we begin to see it as out of this world. We think of ourselves and we are in level 1, we think of Pablo and we put him on an unreachable level. True? When you read about his life, do you want your testimony to be similar? I believe that sadly few people look for it and the problem is that we do not understand well what Paul did to reach that "unattainable" level of spiritual surrender. What did? Obey.

There is no need to find the black thread, It is not a mystery, obedience transforms and revolutionizes.

Yes, you can say, I understand that I must obey but how can I do this or that?

  • You do not understand my situation.
  • You do not understand what it is to be in my shoes.
  • You do not know how this person is.
  • You do not know what it is to have this feeling.
  • You do not know what I suffered.
  • Pablo lived in another era.
  • Pablo was different.
  • Paul had the encounter with God and that is why he could give himself more.
I know that I do not know or understand your situation and that you think you are right. I know there is fear in your life when you do not know what to do. I know that you prefer to elevate the examples of the Bible as unattainable lives for yourself and turn them into dreams that one day you would like to reach but in reality you know that that moment will not come. Am I discovering you? The truth is that it is God who is opening your heart and your understanding. The life of Paul and each exemplary character of the bible is achievable for you and me. The miracles that the Lord did in his life he wants to do again in yours, in mine and in all of us. There is no limit to the blessings of God! We limit the limit by not wanting to obey and by thinking that we can not do more. You and I are the ones who put the brakes on the Lord when He has given us free rein to live grazing us in his blessings, in his love, in his peace in his wisdom in his joy and in his miracles.

Pablo was not hitting his chest. I did not want to receive condolences or admiration. He was a direct and concise person in what he did and said. The Holy Spirit had spoken to him and he knew what would come. Moments full of trials and physical suffering. But he takes advantage of this knowledge to share it with others and teach them what God has taught him: it does not matter more about my life, but fulfilling the task entrusted to me, that of giving testimony of the Gospel of God. This is our goal! This is why we live and die! We do not live just to get married, work, have children, have a house, go on vacation, have material goods and everything you thought you should have. We live First for the Lord. We live to obey Christ. This is what gives meaning to our day to day! And that is exactly what Paul wanted to convey to us. Do not worry about today or tomorrow, worry about sharing the gospel and bringing lives to Christ. Let the Lord work miracles in your life. How? Obeying Him and letting Him take care of everything else. Stop wanting to change things. Paul knew that extremely difficult times would come and still go to Jerusalem. Why? Because he knows that the way of the Lord is the best we can walk. Now we have to understand it and walk it too.

  • Give your problems to the Lord.
  • Give your bitterness.
  • Surrender your jealousy and courage.
  • Give up your grudge.
  • Give your eagerness to money.
  • Give your lack of forgiveness.
  • Give your loneliness.
  • Give your sorrows.
  • Give your heart.
