This is excellent news for every STEEM blockchain users, authors, curators, investors and the whole Steemit.com community. The World's Biggest Public Companies (https://www.forbes.com/global2000/list/) if not all, mostly use the premium domain name .COM for their website, they don't use second class domain extension. The acquisition of STEEM.com domain name solidify the position of STEEM in crypto currency world. This is now a brand, short and easy to remember, many investors will definitely like to see this domain in action.

So give praise to whoever initiated and closing this deal. This is a great accomplishment for Steemit Inc. Regarding deal, how much do you think it was sold? Back in November 6, 2017 I've sent an inquiry to the owner/broker of STEEM.com, and he responded $50K though the website is asking a minimum of $25K offer. I can only assumed the domain name was sold between $25K-$50K. Though I will not be surprise if the price goes north $100K or more. I will wait if @Ned will disclose the actual purchase price.

I've checked the TOP 10 crypto currencies listed at coinmarketcap.com. Only a few actually using .com and mostly .org for their websites despite they are worth billions right now. The bitcoin is using bitcoin.org and same for ethereum.org. Let's not forget the other siblings, the Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold both using .org extension e.g. bitcoincash.org and bitcoingold.org, respectively.
I take off my hat for Ripple and Litecoin for using a perfect domain name for their website ripple.com and litecoin.com.

Very good to know! I wonder how much they ended up paying for it, just out of curiosity. Hopefully they paid for it in STEEM :).
I doubt the seller paid in STEEM. Last time I checked, they prefer $ for payment.
Nice I saw it was for sale on GoDaddy for $75,000 and am happy Steemit Inc got it!
At one point. I plan to purchase it myself that's why I knew about the asking price.
I'm happy it's on a better hand. I'm looking forward to see re-branding to the .com to get more exposure of the steem blockchain.
