Launching WhereIn in Googlen Play ~ WhereIn Mini Program coming soon

After a long haul of continuous improvement, finally WhereIn Android released in Googlep Play in Wednesday. Some may ask why the delay, it is because Google services were generally forbid in mainland China. Luckily we met @superoo7 two weeks back when we’re in SteemFest4, having his assistance to officially registered a Google Play account, and finally we have WhereIn listed in Google Play. Meanwhile, we would also like to take this opportunity to announce another yardstick we have achieved. Back in mainland China, cellphones users far outnumber computer users. Due to high demand in mobile app, and majority of Chinese users has WeChat as their social media communication tool, WhereIn was born on this basis as a mobile app. According to Tencent financial report, Mini Program DAU has exceeded 300million. As at January, WeChat Mini Program has exceeded 2.3million unit, and expecting to exceed 5million by year end. Put it this way, if WeChat is a mobile device, then Mini Program is an APP for the mobile device. WeChat Mini Program were originally 1M, and now has advanced to 8M, and believe soon will upgrade further to 12M. Baidu(one of the Chinese search engine top dog that somewhat resemble G company), Alibaba(taobao, alipay group of company), Tiktok, and many other Western giants(delivery services) are developing their own Mini Program.

We’ve been thinking, if we have to put #steem in China for massive adoption, our immediate thought was “From Mini Program to Blockchain”, which established a link from centralized to decentralized. With that, we will be able to connect local communities, schools, organizations. There’s an article we share about the idea sometime back, 《Smart Media Tokens bring interest communities，schools，and communities into the Blockchain world》. We’re in the midst of WhereIn DAO based on SMTs, similar to DAOstack and Aragon on ETH, at the same time we’re hoping to have a massive adoption of user credibility and authority similar to steem-ua on steem platform.

We’re in the midst of working with WhereIN Mini Program. The plan is, going forward to work with one of the team in Beijing, to come up with a WordPress version of WhereIN Mini Program, establish a link from Mini Program to Blog, and our next big step will be connecting them from Mini Program to Blockchain.

WhereIN Mini Program will have the main functionality of : Creating topic or article, automatically login to WeChat Official Account, WeiBo, XiaoHongShu hyperlink sharing; video sharing and embedding in the article. To synchronize publications between Mini Program and WordPress, feedbacks, replies, comments, reblog, bookmarks, private message, direct message, follow, subscribe, near by people, QR code to login WordPress, customized user friendly interface, and most important of all to have payment gateway for online consumers and business opportunity. Current pioneer are Baidu and QQ Mini Program.

WeChat, Baidu, Ali, TikTok, and many Western online giants, and Mini Program has the edge of far more efficient and widely adopted compare to internet website. Another very important factor is, Mini Program like WeChat, Baidu, QQ will only cost $100. Maintenance and developer cost 1% of an APP. Ultimately, we are hoping to have majority of the cities, local communities, schools, hobby groups from the mainland China will be able to massively connect to SMTs via our Mini Program.

我们还带来了其他的好消息。在中国，互联网用户使用手机胜于电脑，这是WhereIN只有移动应用程序的原因之一。中国还有一个现象，大家都使用Wechat，现在开始流行使用Wechat Mini Program。根据腾讯公司的最新财报，小程序DAU超过3亿。今年1月份，Wechat Mini Program的数量就超过230万个了，预计年底，Wechat Mini Program可能超500万个。你可以简单把Wechat当做安卓，Mini Program当做Application。不过，Wechat Mini Program代码包的大小刚开始只有1M，现在已经升级到了8M，据说即将升级至12M。百度（中国的Google）、阿里巴巴（淘宝、Alipay母公司）、字节跳动（Tiktok母公司）、美团（中国人订外卖就靠它）都纷纷布局小程序。

我们一直在思考Steem在中国的实践，自然想到了“From Mini Program to Blockchain”，也想到了城市里的社群、学校的社团、小区的爱好社群，前天发过一篇帖子《Smart Media Tokens bring interest communities，schools，and communities into the Blockchain world》。我们还计划基于SMTs搭建WhereIN DAO，就像DAOstack和Aragon在ETH上做的那样，我们希望类似steem-ua的信誉系统能在Steem上得到更大的应用。

首先我们有了WhereIN Mini Program。我们与北京的丸子团队合作，推出基于WordPress的WhereIN Mini Program，From Mini Program to Blog，下一步我们计划完成“From Mini Program to Blockchain”。

WhereIN Mini Program主要的功能有：发布话题、文章；自动获取微信公众号、微博、小红书等链接内容进行分享；自动获取视频链接内容分享；Mini Program与WordPress数据实时同步更新；话题点赞/评论/收藏/转发；用户关注/私信；支持附近的人；支持Mini Program扫码登陆WordPress网站；精美前端UI设计；即将支持商城功能。目前正在支持百度、QQ Mini Program。

我们什么要这样做？因为中国8.54亿网民都在微信、百度、阿里、字节跳动、美团等平台，Mini Program的体验远胜于网站。还有一个很重要的原因，这样一套包括Wechat、baidu、QQ的Mini Program，只要100美金，开发和维护成本不到Application的百分之一。我们希望中国城市里的社群、学校的社团、小区的爱好社群都能有一个接入SMTs的Mini Program，我们也会一直朝着这个目标前进。
