@null for Separating Steem related matters from general public content.

in #steem5 years ago (edited)

Steemit and other interfaces should handle post that have @null as beneficiary differently.

Like Steempeak.com does.
if beneficiary = @null then cannot be downvoted and show a 🔥 next to it.

Then create an, trending interface / page taking only those post into account.

I posit it would end up being a great place to have Steem related discussions while the rest stay more reserved for content relevant to the general public.

What's wrong with using the steem tag? Now that we have free downvotes, it is far more feasible to start to police tag abuse. Hopefully we will get to a point where rampant vote selling has been dealt with and we can perhaps move on to using more downvotes for things like tag abuse.

I don't think that all Steem-related topics need to be burn posts, but I'm not against it either.

On the matter of not being able to downvote null/burn payouts, I don't generally support that, I think stakeholders should be able to do so if they think too much is being burnt (and if it turns out there is consistent consensus for a significant amount of consistent burning, a fork can reduce inflation). But I think UIs deciding to differentiate in various ways is perfectly fine. Some ideas will turn out to be popular with users and some won't.

I think communities will sort a lot of this out

But I agree null posts should have a marker on them, at least the 100% ones

Yes, communities will help separate discussions/topics/promoted content. I'm also working on an additional feature for communities called Native Ads. More details are on my blog.

It's a good idea! Capture it on the blockchain, but do not "publish it" for the masses.

We are back to working on this after all the HF21/SPS stuff interrupted things.

This post has been included in the latest edition of The Steem News - a compilation of the key news stories on the Steem blockchain.

everything should be non-downvoteable ... but if you give @null posts immunity i can give you 20pr0n that says you change your mind in 24 hours , it's either all or nothing in this case. If you believe in downvoting, then /dev/null is just as exploitable or abusable (i dont believe in downvoting)
