RE: Guide: Upvote-Calculation with SBD & STEEM for @smartmarket
No, I have another account, I created this one to write articles on various historical battles/events I have an interest in.
Ok, here's an example of author rewards from a recent post on my other account which I received today :
Total rewards : $12.64
- Author : $11.88
- Curators : $0.76
Now, I when I claimed my reward I got the following :
5.941 SBD (notice how it's ALWAYS 50% of the author reward figure)
and
1.831 SP
(so this is obviously adjusted to the current market price of steem at 7 days from post creation ie 5.894/3.24 = 1.8 approx)
You've obviously noticed on your own rewards (if you operate 50/50) that the steem power awarded used to correlate nearer to 50% of the author reward $ figure when steem was around the $1 USD mark a month or so back, right??
so the 5.941 SBD x 2.75 (rough conversion right now I believe) = 16.34 Steem and of course the $1.831 steem (received as steempower) for a total of 18.171 steem.
So in fact, the SBD proportion of the author reward is actually (as of earlier today anyway):
16.34/18.171 = 89.9% !! and not even 75% as you erroneously claim above.
You don't seem to understand that you get SBD based on 50% of the author reward $ figure under the post, not this 75% figure.
Trying to run calculations based on a 75% figure is crazy and you're coming up with reward figures that the authors will never see.
Btw you mention the curation of 25% isn't a factor as smartmarket is an insta-vote bot. That's true, but why did you bring it into the article above then unless most customers are waiting at least 30 minutes before buying the vote??
For what it's worth, excluding the curation reward, I probably broke even on the vote then.
I'm personally not upset about a couple of us dollars worth, I'm only trying to help you guys ensure that customers aren't short changed due to an incorrect understanding of how the steemit rewards are calculated.
