Who is Policing the Reward Poolice?steemCreated with Sketch.

Some people on the blockchain make it their business to get into your business. I call them the reward poolice or the reward reavers. These fine folks will go around with their noses up in the air and determine whose posts have "too many rewards." However, when the time comes, they seldom apply this "superpower" to their work.

This is why you've got assholes like me on the blockchain. It's to tell assholes like them; "Hey, calm yo titties!" If you're going to run around as an "authority figure," at least have the cojones to live in alignment with your values. Else people like me will call shenanigans, and we'll call it loud n proud too.

His post is less engaging with 40% fewer characters and has 37.7 times the rewards assigned to it. But he hunts down and punishes people who "rape" the reward pool. Go figure. Insert the relevant M. Friedman quote here.

i wonder on this too. it seems they take away from some people yet give in abundance to certain people (who support their work or know them??). i dont mind them policing, as long as they are fair, impartial and educate people as to WHY they downvoted (many of them don't). I do mind the favoritism. That is just a bit of saying "we should control who gets the vote." to those people, i say, who do u think you're fooling?

Ty for sharing your
thoughts @torico.

Then downvote him. He actually downvotes abusers right? With his own stake? You can’t upvote or downvote anything more than your own stake...

“Less engaging” but the comments say otherwise ‍♀️

Why would my opinion be so important as to invalidate the rewards assigned by other stakeholders? I generally look for and reward content I like and appreciate. If I don't like content, I'm not going to nullify the value that other people assign to it. I am neither that self-important, entitled, or mean spirited. Additionally, I don't want to ruin people's steem experience. If the coin is to ever move from shit to something valuable, we need to create a less hostile atmosphere. The intent of this post was merely to point out the folly and hypocrisy of the reward poolice mindset.

Grammarly judges the quality of the text content, not the videos, nor does it engage in stakeholder worship. Let's not pretend that that's not a thing.

I will only say that I tend to agree that "down-voting" is not great in it's current (or past) form on this platform. I've never liked how the mechanic worked.

Whatever positive happens on Steemit, downvoting will always be an ugly blemish on all of it.

They could remove the barriers, and make an individuals down vote the same as an up vote. If an individual up votes to excess, the people of steem can remove rewards. If the people of steem down vote a post there is no counter to the down vote option for those that abuse the down vote. If a down vote had an auto posted comment, then the people of steem could decide if the down voter overstepped the bounds and the intent of the down vote system.

Then intent of the down vote system is not to down vote just because you do not like a person, topic, or idea.

Well said @jbgarrison72!
