Earth’s giant recycling center, and a touch of magic.
written by @planetwild
Healthy forests are full of life; from the lush tree canopy all the way down to the forest floor. What may look like a bunch of moss, rotting wood, and dead leaves at first glance is actually a rich and diverse ecosystem. In fact, this often overlooked habitat is one of the most important on Earth. Through endless death and decay, the things that happen on the forest floor help support all life on our planet, but how?
Are fathers in your countries happy to have daughters?
written by @soulsdetour
This week I watched a Bulgarian series, surprisingly well made. The last series showed the life and lifestyle of a typical rich Bulgarian family in the past, more precisely, the beginning or the first quarter of the last century.
The father, having two daughters, while providing them with a good education, was actually doing this only so that he can trade them well - force them into arranged marriages that will be profitable for his business.
How Carolco Shaped My Movie Memories
written by @thescreenaddict
The critical and commercial failure of Cutthroat Island (1995) is said to have been the reason for Hollywood not betting on Pirate movies until Johnny Depp, Jerry Bruckheimer and Gore Verbinski revolutionized the genre almost twenty years later. I’ve always loved CI. The majority of my deep affection for this film comes from the enormous admiration I have for the principal driving forces behind it – Mario Kassar, Renny Harlin and Geena Davis.
No Work, No Pay rule
written by @nainaztengra
A landmark policy has been set up by the Government of one of the states of India, Manipur. The policy is that all those government employees who are consistently absent from office without any valid reasons will have a pay cut. The ‘no work, no pay’ policy aims to address the issue of absenteeism and ensure that government employees fulfill their work responsibilities. The aim is to make the government employees feel responsible towards their work.
A stern reminder about the importance of sterilization of dogs
written by @kbv.animalwelf
A recent discovery of a litter of pups has once again reminded me of the absolute imperative importance of sterilizing animals, dogs and cats in particular. Nature has determined over the course of thousands of years that in order for a pack to survive in the long run that a mother dog needs to have as many babies as they possibly can. Before dogs were pets, most of these puppies would never make it to adulthood but those who did would repeat the cycle of making as many other puppies as they possibly could for the good of the pack's survival.
