STEEM Is A Powder Keg Ready To Explode

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Blockchain is an entirely different animal then what people encountered before. For this reason, a shift in thinking is required.

STEEM is an ecosystem. All that is related to STEEM is tied together. What happens to one aspect affects the totality. In other words, we are all in this together.

That is why the negativity and other behaviors that we see on here does not make a lot of sense. Many spiritual disciplines discuss the idea that we are all one, meaning that attacking another is really attacking oneself. We see this in spades on here.

Writing a negative post reflects upon the entire ecosystem. Articles posted on the blockchain are imprinted forever. We never know when or where one might come across the words we post. Fortunately, the same is true for the positive. Whatever we put out there has an impact.

This really applies to the marketing. There are a few things that I want to refer to that exemplify why STEEM might be ready to move into the Top 10 currencies.

We have long known that STEEM is undervalued. It is one of the top blockchains in terms of the technical capabilities. No other blockchain processes as many transactions a day as STEEM. There are 3 second transactions with no fees to either the sender or the user.

Blockhcain is the underlying entity which all else is built upon. We do not need to promote STEEM. Instead, we should be promoting the different applications that are built upon it. What happens to one aspect of STEEM affected the entire ecosystem. Hence, one application gaining more success means the entire network benefits.

A couple of week ago I wrote an article about SteemPress. For those who missed that article, this is a plugin that was designing to connect WordPress posts to STEEM. In other words, one could have the same article posted in both places. This is an attractive application since WordPress has over 75M sites including some big entities such as the NYTimes.

One thing I did learn is that the SteemPress team did address the SEO issue which was a question. The article can be set to post a week after going on WordPress to remove the idea of being penalized by Google.

Here is a video that I recommend of the SteemPress founders at the London Crypto Show.

Have you heard of SteemTipper yet?

This is something that was brought to my attention, specifically by @zoidsoft and @edicted. Both wrote terrific articles detailing this application so I won't go into too many details.

Basically, SteemTipper works with Twitter. It is a way to send payments to Twitter users as a "tip". Essentially, this is an upvote. What is innovative about this idea is that the person receiving the tip does not need to have a STEEM account. Instead, SteemTipper sets up proxy accounts for the people receiving the STEEM tip.

This accomplishes a few things. To start, we now can take STEEM to Twitter instead of waiting for them to come to STEEM. It is my understanding you can go there now and send tips to anyone you desire. What a marketing tool this is. The second thing it does it that it shows the ability to send micropayments. Since there are no fees associated with a transaction, one can send .001 STEEM without issue. Finally, although one does not need a STEEM account to get tips, he or she will need one to collect.

There is also a wonderful stats page which shows all the tips sent and how much. Obviously, this is a new service just introduced this week. However, if you are one who uses Twitter, this is worth a try.

One thing I noticed is that with so many applications appearing and projects looking for support, there is not enough STEEM to go around. Now we are starting to see demand for the tokens increase. Ultimately, this will be what drives up the price. The mantra I go by is to ignore price action while focusing upon the development. The pricing will follow as the usage increases and the demand for funding takes place. Remember, one of the most valuable aspect of cryptocurrency is as a funding mechanism. People are now looking for STEEM.

We are getting very close to this powder keg exploding. At present, the sign up process still seems to be manual based upon the numbers getting approved. This is one bottleneck we all hope gets cleared up soon. The word is starting to spread organically through all the applications being created.

It is going to be a wild ride over the next couple years. As I wrote yesterday, there is a lot changing quickly in the world with technology which will cause major fallout at the societal level. However, people who are already involved in cryptocurrency, and STEEM in particular, are going to be well-insulated.

We are all in this together and a part of making this grow.

Having a number of Wordpress assets I was excited to hear about SteemPress but then realized Steemit has a canonical URL issue which hasn't been addressed yet.

So for the struggling WordPress publisher using SteemPress, it's likely your words will appear higher in search rankings on Steemit first rather than on your own blog. Plus, you may get penalized for duplicate content.

All Steem front-ends should address the canonical URL issue, and add an HTML link tag with attribute rel=canonical which refers back to the original author and website it was created on.

Until this happens, using SteemPress is just another way to duplicate content over the web, which isn't the goal here.

But having a Twitter Tipping tool is so cool and it's a great way to bring attention to the Steem token.

Although I'd like to see it integrated into a blog post where people upvote a Twitter Storm Post, and a bot uses the proceeds to tip top ranking twitter tweets. ( I guess it would be like our version of a thunderclap or an airdrop - perhaps calling the app SteemDrop or something similar)

You are spot on about us being in this together! I don't like littering posts with videos, but I am compelled to add a video for a song of the same title by Nine Inch Nails as an ode to Steem and Saturday morning!

Oh, Trent... the biggest hater of the establishment. I saw him in New Orleans way back in the day. The background was a burning cityscape.

I am all about the future of Steem, going to be investing more in it for sure.

Also, I have been using Steempress for a little while now. It is great.

Thanks for the comment @joebrochin.

Can you elaborate a bit more on Steempress?

What are the pros/cons? How easy was it to learn? How long did it take? What do you like best about it?

I might do a follow up post to it linking to you if there is enough there.

Well yes I can :-)

I got in when it was still in beta.
Simple Setup Instructions. It took about 15 minutes to setup:
-Login to your admin dashboard in Wordpress.
-Select "plugins" then "add new" from your dashboard menu
-Do a search for "steempress" in the plugin directory
-Click "Install now" in the steempress box then click "activate" when it appears
-Click "installed plugins" form your dashboard menu and find the steempress plugin
-Click "settings"
-Enter the Steemit information as it applies to you and click "save"

Pros:
-It is very simple to install (assuming one has experience with Wordpress).
-Can adjust your rewards
-Able to create default tags
-Able to delay post (adjusted in minutes)
-Able to add the original link to your Steemit post
-Can self vote
-Can select if each post is to be sent to Steemit or not when creating posts

Cons:
-If you edit your Wordpress post after it has posted, it will not edit your Steemit post
-Image alignment sometimes gets messed up when posting to Steemit
-Some HTML doesn't transfer over to Steemit from the Wordpress post

I agree Steem is way undervalued.. it would be awesome to see it in the top 10 one day!

Agreed on the negative comments, we should post about solutions rather than complaints as we will soon have more and more competition as other blockchain projects look to take advantage of the crosswalk of social media and blockchain. If we cannot come together as a community, it will be easier to create a competitor to take users away. We are all investors in this as we stake our STEEM for influence and earnings.

Another great informative article.

Yes, exactly

I was telling a friend somedays ago to watch out for steem.... It's matter of time
