RE: New Steem? Old Steem?

in #steem5 years ago

I don't think I have ever spent time in old steem, I spend my time thinking about future steem. Marketing new only works on those who knew old, so it is internally focused. Hopefully it will push people to think outside and to those who have never seen or heard of steem.

Yes that's true, but getting (some of) the existing base worked up in a movement can help with that too.

Yep I agree.

well as much as the idea could be seen as putting lipstick on a pig... I don't see the New Steem push as being internally focused. In fact if it was, it would likely be greeted with howls of laughter.

Communicating a message off the chain of a 'new and exciting' Steem will catch people's attention, more so those who have never heard of Steem and will be curious to look and see what is going on.

Now, if we could actually live up to the hype, we might grow.

The idea isn't internally focused but it requires pushing it outward, something that doesn't come easily to Steem it seems. It should always be pushed as being new and exciting as it is always evolving and the users can direct the various directions. That is pretty cool isn't it?

I don't disagree on that. Was talking about that on PYPT Thursday morning along the lines of it's great to want to promote "new Steem" but why am I seeing so many posts on Steem and not finding them on FB or Twitter or where ever...

A lot of people don't want to be found on Steem perhaps. When it comes to financial things, open isn't normal.
