RE: New Steem? Old Steem?

in #steem5 years ago

Keep doing what you are doing and you will keep getting what you are getting.

Have you ever seen an identical block? It has been changing for years here. Changing in a thousand different ways daily, including what might be a marketing campaign. It doesn't matter whether you or I think we know what is needed because, it is up to the community to do what is needed in a thousand different ways. That is the power of decentralization, and its flaw.

Sort:

From a marketing perspective, doing the same thing is not productive, is how I interpreted that quote.

We might know it as the same steem blockchain, but the world around us probably thinks nothing ever changes around here. Same old garbage system. Which is true to some extent.

Anyway, embrace the movement, don't get left in oldsteem ;)

#newsteem

I don't think I have ever spent time in old steem, I spend my time thinking about future steem. Marketing new only works on those who knew old, so it is internally focused. Hopefully it will push people to think outside and to those who have never seen or heard of steem.

Yes that's true, but getting (some of) the existing base worked up in a movement can help with that too.

Yep I agree.

well as much as the idea could be seen as putting lipstick on a pig... I don't see the New Steem push as being internally focused. In fact if it was, it would likely be greeted with howls of laughter.

Communicating a message off the chain of a 'new and exciting' Steem will catch people's attention, more so those who have never heard of Steem and will be curious to look and see what is going on.

Now, if we could actually live up to the hype, we might grow.

The idea isn't internally focused but it requires pushing it outward, something that doesn't come easily to Steem it seems. It should always be pushed as being new and exciting as it is always evolving and the users can direct the various directions. That is pretty cool isn't it?

I don't disagree on that. Was talking about that on PYPT Thursday morning along the lines of it's great to want to promote "new Steem" but why am I seeing so many posts on Steem and not finding them on FB or Twitter or where ever...

A lot of people don't want to be found on Steem perhaps. When it comes to financial things, open isn't normal.

A blockchain is only as good as its users. Behavior should be changed when necessary. A blockchain is worthless if nobody cares about it and it could go every 3 seconds not caring about us. Both can exists . Behavioral change and code.

Both have to exist. The behavior changes with the code, the code changes with the behavior. Behavior also changes through interpersonal interaction, as does the code. I think the strength of Steem is that it is possible for the community to change the code in various ways. The code doesn't change itself - At least not yet ;D

I can see your point :P

The code doesn't change itself - At least not yet ;D

Frightening to think about! someday it easily could!

Frightening to think about! someday it easily could!

Bernie is writing the AI code now. ;D

But if we get more people who don't care onto here then we will surely get a better community. I mean all efforts to pander to idiots, retards and the like, because they will make this place worth something, as it is very worthless right now without all the idiots and retards alike who care about bigger, better things than "libertarian values" and how everything adds up.
