I feel exactly the same way man. I heard about Ruon through the Beos telegram. Stan and Michael are doing some really cool stuff over there, and I heard Ruon mentioned as a potential "raindropped" token. I actually haven't done a ton of research, but it looks cool and professional. Also anything Stan or Michael touches is usually gold, so.. Anyway I'm a big fan of looking at cryptos like companies (DACs), where the ones that provide the most value win. Ned didn't do a great job, which made the situation worse because he tried to centralize Steem, ignoring Dan's advice.. Not the best idea IMO. I love Steem, and I hope it succeeds too because it really is awesome, but I feel like people are forgetting that blockchains can compete with one another. If another team does a better job and fulfills the needs of a niche market, I'll probably use them too, and as it's still early they could overtake the earlier blockchains like FB did Myspace.
