I do not think self voting harms Steem. You give upvote to someone becuase you like their content. Usually quality content attracts many people's attention and gets a lot of upvote. Now when you make post on Steemit or DApps, you make quality content and try to add value to the lives of others. You should appreciate your content by giving your upvote because it is worth it. If you don't like your content, how could you expect that other people would like your content?
Upvote is a indication that you like the content. It is absolutely ok if you upvote your your post. It is not going to harm anything.
