I've Been Flagged 10 Times. Steemit Censorship.
Steem is selling itself as a place of no censorship an alternative to reddit or any other site with potential corporate censorship. There is some truth to that, steemit doesn't take your posts down most of the time but there is censorship. The steemit community can censor by flagging your post, this doesn't take down your post but it makes it harder to see. I have to ask who are these people that flag posts, when I look at posts on steemit I don't go around flagging people's posts, in fact I've been on this site for awhile I've never seen anything I was offended by. If I look at my many flags I notice that most are mundane for example I got flagged for a post on trump becoming the presumptive nominee before hillary, a post on bitcoin going up in the market and a post on the dao. These posts are my opinion and I've never said I was posting unbiased news like anybody does anyways. I've been flagged for risky posts but I'm not complaining here about those. I'm disapointed Steem isn't a free speech medium.
It is free speech, and flagged content is not deleted. It's designed to handle curation though to show the content people most value prominently. If you disagree with people flagging a post, upvote that post to counteract them.
Works great unless you don't have enough followers and then they can hide your content. If it was really Free Speech, then it wouldn't be censored.
It's like saying, fresh air is free as long as you can pay for it. Nice! SMFH
but whait what if your counteraction has no impact because you are having like 5 SP and Mr Downvote has like 55?

I'm only flagging down posts that have a lot of obscene content. If you weren't posting anything like this, then you don't deserve to be flagged.

I actually don't see a way to flag your posts. I suspect it is Witnesses (I think AKA moderators) that do this. I saw one blatant porn post with a pretty sweet blow job gif that had a -4 votes rank. I wondered how it got negative and I don't actually see a way to downvote or flag a post.
There's a little flag icon on the upper right corner of the post. Click it and you will downvote.

The flag button is in the top right on steemit.com, just to the right of the post title. Anyone can flag just like anyone can vote. It's like a negative vote.

Censorship sucks! I have just had my first post down voted and hidden. It totally makes me want to leave this platform and continue my search a place that I can use a blog to grow my businesses... Honestly I feel that Steemit, while it promotes itself censorship free, is not being honest.

Plus, a voting system can easily be gamed by fake accounts. So yeah in this day and age if someone wanted to make your post disappear the could hire a firm that has many fake accounts to downvote into oblivion.
Steemit is a game show made by the rich, of the rich, for the rich. Simple as that!
