Unfortunately, Steem has nothing going for it compared to Ripple, which is one of the main reasons why Steem almost shut down a short time ago, laying off 70% of its workforce in the process. The only thing Steem has going for it is SteemIt, and that is not a sustainable business model. You can't just pay out money without taking in revenue, and SteemIt has no significant source of revenue. The Whales have made a lot of money off of the Minnows here on SteemIt, and one by one, are leaving and taking their money with them. What will be left is just a lot of minnows spending their time posting and commenting for a few pennies a week, if that.
