RE: [AskSteem] Can Someone Explain SteemIt Payouts?

in #steem6 years ago

Let's take your last post to pay out, to show you how much you earned.

It was this post where your total post payout was $9.43.

Of that $9.43, you earned appx: $7.10

7.1/9.43= 75.29%. You earned a little over 75% of the total payout.

Of that $7.10, $3.546 was paid out in SBD, and rest was paid out in the form of Steem Power.

You earned .943 Steem Power, which means the average price of Steem over that time period was 3.546/.943 or $3.76.

So basically, you earned 3.546 SBD and approximately $3.55 worth of Steem Power. Does that help clear things up?

I guess where it's confusing is that STEEM Dollars is no longer in parity with the usd, was that the initial purpose of SBD? Is the dollar value listed on every post/comment suppose to be a USD representation of payout?

was that the initial purpose of SBD?

Yes, it was intended to be a smart contract which would always be worth about a dollar. Obviously, that hasn't worked as well as they would've liked.

Is the dollar value listed on every post/comment suppose to be a USD representation of payout?

Yes, assuming SBDs are worth exactly $1.

Can you help me figure out why the post payout, 75 percent of approx 99 sbd only paid out approx 37.5 sbd and 9.5 sp? I had put 45 sbd into the post, and did not lose any of the bids. So how did i end up losing money?

The posts are listed in sbd, so it should have been 75 percent of 99 sbd. Im confused.
